Depends on the nature of the mistake. Sometimes you just have to let it go. Assuming it's worthy to continue discussing thank the MD for the detailed review, say you looked in to it further, and ask for a brief chat so you can learn from the mistake and potentially correct your own thinking. When you meet, lay out your fact pattern from the perspective of asking where you went wrong in your analysis. Let your MD come to his/her own conclusion that you're right.
Suck it up, man. Not worth wasting the MD's time with that shit. Besides, if you are worried this could make or break your year end comp/review (news flash, it won't), then you probably have bigger issues to deal with
Does it really matter that much to you to prove a point? The amount of times I've sucked it up to cover for other people's screw ups when it became my problem
