My mother in law insisted that I call her mom...not quite conformable with that. How do you guys call your MIL?

I do call her mom. My husband calls my parents mom and dad. It was uncomfortable at first but you get used to it. I take it as his family is my family and vice versa.
If it helps, I call my mother mama and I call my MIL mom. So there is a distinction in my head

like

I do the exact same thing, but backwards haha my MIL is mama and my mother is mom!

I call mine by her first name when I am speaking to her. When my husband is talking about her, I will say “how is your mom?” I don’t think I would ever call her my mom. I have a mom. I do love my MIL though. She’s super sweet and fun. Just not my mom.

I usually try to avoid any name because I don’t know what to say 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️I’ve been with my husband 11 years, married for 8 years

likefunnysmart

I tried avoiding calling her anything until one day i was failing to get her attention in a public setting.
My brain: don’t do it don’t do it
Me: ... Mrs Segall...

She had a good laugh. Being a teacher, this is what middle school kids call her. 😅😂

I avoid calling her anything. Married 4 years now 😂😂😂

Very valid, I call her nana now

Karen (but she’s actually lovely and not a “Karen”)

Joan. And I would neverrrrr call her mom.

Me too 💯

Tell her that you are not my Mom; my mom is the person who actually gave birth to me. If you are not comfortable about it then don’t just start calling her Mom to please her. It can set a dangerous/toxic pattern where she would expect you to comply to her wishes whether you like it or not. Becomes a real big issue real fast

like

I call her by her first name.

I call my MIL by her first name. I already have a mom.

Call her something like Mama Smith

Same - call my mil Mama Gail. My husband calls my parents Mr. Gaylon and Ms. Angela. We live in the south so feels disrespectful to call them by just their first names

I've been with my husband for 14 years, married 5. Since we were dating I've referred to her as Auntie (insert name). It's become a habit that I cannot break, so that's what i still call her. I feel bad sometimes, but it's not that I wouldn't call her mom, it just feels weird at this point.

like

If that's the case, I think you can let her know you've both decided that thats how you feel comfortable referring to each other's parents. Hoping your husband can support you in that conversation because she might come back and say your husband should/can also call your parents mom and dad. Just make it clear that you've discussed this as a couple and you've made your decision.

Mum- not to offend the UK, but to me it’s a variation and nothing I would ever call my mom directly. 😬

I call mine by her first name. She wanted me to call her “mom” but the thought of that makes me so uncomfortable because my mom is my best friend and she is my mom! My advice: talk to your mother in law and tell her that you aren’t comfortable calling her mom and be prepared to have alternative names that you are comfortable with.

like

I didn’t call my mother in law anything until we had kids (literally just avoided calling her anything for a solid decade) 😂. Now I call her grandma cuz that’s what my kids call her.

like

I called her by her name until we had kids now we all call her Grammy

like

She asked me to call her by her first name and it’s still so cringy/awkward, I avoid it altogether like everyone else 😂 Going on 5 years now. Just hoping I can get away with it until we have kids and she becomes Grandma.

like

Why is it awkward to call her by her first name?

like

I just use her first name. Well, now we call her 'nana' or 'grandma.'

Was annoyed that I asked what the call her when it was clear my husband and I were getting married after a whirlwind romance and she said Auntie XYZ, because my husband’s ex-girlfriend had apparently called her MOM! I thought wait a moment, I’m MARRYING your son and “Auntie” is the suggestion? 😡😡 Anyway there was a lot of drama in general. After the wedding she signed cards to me as “Mom” so I call her that. Call my mother “Mum” since there’s a British background there, so in my head and in my writing there is a difference. She’s still Auntie XYZ on my phone though, that’s not changing.

Humor her. Call her Mom or Mom 2 to keep a good relationship with her.

Once we had children, it was easier because I just refer to her as Grams. I love her to the moon and back but I still struggle to refer to her as mom. She’s never overtly asked me to call her mom but if she did, I would. Can’t hurt

I’m 23, white-American, and have had two serious relationships. One with a Pakistani man and the other with a Korean. They both ended up breaking up with me because they wanted to be with someone of their culture. Wasting my time. I’m not really attracted to white guys, I think bc I grew up in an urban/inner-city. But I also feel like I would look dumb af if I date another person from a different culture and for them to dump me for the same reason. Y’all got advise or been in similar situations?

Im a RN and took on a new role working in Home Health. I chose this position because My husband & I recently moved to PA with our 2 kids (1&3), with no family available for his residency program with a hospital. If you know that life, I’m pretty much the main parent for our kids. I don’t want to work in the hospital/floor work anymore; nor do I believe the hrs are flexible enough. I need a job that’s flexible for the kids but pays >$44/hr. Maybe remote or hybrid? Please help w/ suggestions.

I’m planning on not returning back to my job after my baby is born. I have no paid maternity leave outside of short term disability (60% pay for 6 weeks, an elective benefit that I pay for exclusively) and will use my sick time / vacation time while out, too. So, what’s the etiquette for when to put in notice while on leave? Any ideas?

I have 1 one year old and have told my husband that I want to get divorced. He is being immature about the process and is just trying to make everything difficult. Sometimes he says he will move out, then he says the baby and I should, sometimes he says he wants custody when the real reason im leaving is his lack of interest amd resppnsibility toward our family. I can tell he is hurt and is upset that i dont love him anymore and want to get everything ready to make the exit easy. How do I start?

I’m feeling down. 😢 After 3 failed IVFs with the last one ending in a chemical pregnancy I sought the opinion of a second fertility doctor. She said given my age of 45, my husband and I had the same chances of getting pregnant with another round of IVF with my own eggs as I would naturally and wouldn’t move forward with IVF, only with egg donor. My AMH is 2.6 and FSH was 7.4 just this past month. Should I ignore her and seek a third opinion? Not quite ready to go down the egg donor route yet.

Anyone day trade large capital on 1-2 stocks targeting 1% gain? The risk to reward is crazy but the thought would be to stick to high value stocks that easily move 1%+ daily. I know the general rule is to risk < 1% of portfolio/trade, but seeing TSLA and NFLX price movements I’m tempted to go in 50k on a dip and set a limit order. I’m thinking worst case of not recovering from a dip would be that I’d own a lot of one stock?

But I am not clear about the job profile,
As they just scheduled the interview directly and it happened.

Will after joining they will move me to any in house tech, or the job will be relevant with my profile only.

I mean i am switching only to work on good tech. Dont want to get stuck again in in-house technology.
