Op- the moment you say someone close you don’t know and your way is wrong way you shut the door for communication.. personal relationships are handled differently (emotion first) then professional relationships… try to engage in her business observe what she needs help with and once you learn her way of doing things show her what could make things better for her…
OP- yes, you can. Just ask her .. can you be part of her business (obviously without any monetary benefit) just to help day to day…. Take some work off her shoulder.. I.e making payments (obviously from her business account), keeping a track of bill collection.. May be down the road you can talk to her customer to make automatic payments..I.e reoccurring payments etc. start using some online apps for expenses tracking along with her way of doing things.. whenever you think time is right or she is in elevated mood show her how to use those apps, tools etc. work your way slowly and increase the frequency of that interaction on how to use those tools..
Keep in mind in personal relationships instructions on how to do things don’t work as good as it works in corporate environment.. emotions and feelings are always first… it may seem longer route but at the end it will work out
She could hire an accountant but for that she would have to understand that it's necessary, and then she would have to pass on information that she doesn't collect. I got to open her eyes somehow but haven't been successful this far.
Is she aware of the grant funding earmarked for her? If she kept financial statements she could apply for grant or pitch funding. The money could help her hire an assistant or business manager. https://mintmaven.co
Is she happy? If she is, nothing else matters. If she is not, sure, try to help her.
She's overworking herself and not really having much to bring home, so it's stressful for her.

You mentioned Cash Flow. That means she needs an accountant.

If she is open to it - maybe sit down with her and do a spreadsheet of her cash flows?
Coach
Maybe hiring a virtual assistant a few hours a week to handle the things she can’t.
I have a great remote secretary who might be interested in helping if you want to DM me.
