Moving to San Diego in the spring from the central coast. Any recs on places to live (late 30’s with a kid)? Want to be close to restaurants and things to do, but a little too old and tired for gas lamp!
Baby outgrew the nuna pipa in his 6th month… what car seat would you all recommend? Kinda confused and haven’t done enough research around this because I thought this day wasn’t coming around for atleast another year! Apparently not! Any recommendations on what we could go for?
I feel very lost. I just started as an associate at a big firm this year and have a one year old son. Learning how to be a mom and an associate has been extremely tough and I have felt burnt out on multiple occasions this year. Prior to having a child, I was a very determined individual and was used to saying yes to almost everything because I wanted to accomplish those things. Nowadays I feel like I don’t care about my job as much and being away from him gets more and more difficult.
Question: The company that you are working for offers cloud managed services and has been approached by a potential client. What are some areas (or red flags) you would consider before responding to their RFP? ( I started putting together a response but would love to get your insights) Answer: 1) Understanding of current annual spending vs spending if they adopted our cloud services 2) Clients expected growth rate 3) Regulatory requirements depending on industry (medical, fed etc)
New father here.. can anyone share how far they were able to take their newborns / toddlers on road trips ? My kid can barely tolerate the car seat ( Graco) beyond 1 hour
How are MBB maternity/paternity leave?
I'm 33 weeks pregnant and exhaustion is hitting me really hard, even worse than in my first tri. I'm sleeping 6-8 hours a night (I'm waking up without an alarm and unable to go back to sleep) but then need a 2 hour nap in the morning (?!?!) to get through the day. Even then, I'm still exhausted and having a hard time focusing when I wake up. Any tips? I've been using melatonin at night, which helps but isn't fixing the whole thing. Ideas appreciated!
I work at a boutique that is not very well known, I went on sick leave for personal reasons, which they have been very supportive of. And while on it I received an opportunity to back to a big name I worked for before moving to the boutique. I've only been here for about 7 months. Would it look bad if I agreed to take the offer to boomerang? I'm very confused, everyone I know is saying I shouldn't do it.
We have an AMAZING nanny - we adore her and she is so great with our child. We are just using her for 6 months while we wait for our daughter to get into a nursery program. We didn’t talk about this up front - but, typically, what do you do in these situations for vacation/holidays? If she goes on vacation, do we still pay her for those days? If we go on vacation, do we still pay her for those days (supposing we give plenty of heads up)?
What is a good read/place to start with FIRE? I’m 28 and have 1k in my bank account and 110k in student debt. Making 65k but have had to spend most of my savings on medical issues recently :( I think that deluge of shit is going to end soon and I can go back to saving, but I don’t know what my next move should be. Any advice would be really appreciated.
Let’s hear some stories of adversity and overcoming challenges. Socioeconomic, race, gender, disability etc. Work or personal. I think we all need some inspiration that we can overcome, no matter what.
I think schools should send letters (and a PSA) home telling parents NOT to send sick kids to school!!!!!
Anyone else get irrationally bothered by spastic typers? The kid in the cube next to me POUNDS on his keyboard with sudden flurries of frenzied typing and slams on the backspace and return keys.
1 paycheck is spent on rent, the other is spent on loans. 2 years out of grad school, 3.5 years in consulting, make $75K/year. I have a savings ($5K) but I'm sick of this paycheck to paycheck life.
There was a thread that touched on this topic the other day. Interesting read and as a daughter of a working mom (and a working mom myself), I can honestly say that this is absolutely true for me. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.forbes.com/sites/kateashford/2015/06/30/working-mother/amp/
Need advice from more experienced fishes. How much should I increase my FSA contribution if I plan to (try to) get pregnant next year?
For many salary breakup I'm seeing medical premium is 3k monthly and 30k+ annually. However when I checked my OL today it's mentioned 1.5k monthly and 20+ annually. Why is this different and what's the meaning of this? Anyway if I'm not wrong the premium is borne by company so does this mean the benefit I'll receive will be less than others... If yes then why!?
Anyone know what a senior associate total comp at Hietman (Chicago) is? Any word on company culture? Department would be financial reporting and operations.
Need recommendations for all inclusive resorts. Mexico or any other country with contained Covid would be perfect Thanks 🙏
Started in industry two weeks ago. No timesheets, 40 hour work weeks, and 30% more than what I was making previously. We use all B4 for everything, so it’s just managing their work and budgeting. I feel like I have hit the jackpot. Moral of the post: there is none, I just want to brag about how happy I am now 😂
Was it hard for you to adjust when going from multiple years of consulting (culture, environment, peers) to industry (laid back, "soft" for lack of a better word, more indirect than direct) What helped you make the move?
Hi all, Atlassian is hiring across Product, Engineering, Design, Data, Strategy & Biz Ops and other roles. The company has a great culture and values employee well-being a lot. Almost all roles are remote, even if there is a location attached to them. The internal policy is team anywhere aka remote-first within a country/region. Check out the career page below for more details. Happy to put in a referral for you if there is a fit.
Would it be crazy to negotiate salary after I’ve already signed the offer? I just resigned and my current agency countered with crazy $$$ and a better title. I still want to make this move but the $$$ from the new spot isn’t that great. I accepted bc of the people / name. I know it shouldn’t be all about the money, but this is really a life-changing amount. I wish I hadn’t signed until after I got the counter from my current employer… live and learn I guess. 🥴
what position earns 250k in PA or industry?
Hi guys, I switched 20 days back to Optum. I have 7 years of experience working as a full stack Engineer, who is passionate working on both front end and back end on latest technologies. But my project is working only on back end with 10 years old tech stack. There is no front end work at all. What should I do? I don't like working here at all, but I am not sure whether moving out again in a month will give bad Impression on my resume. Hence please give me advice on this situation
Can anyone help me refer in Barclays.. The ho opening is exactly matching with my profile.. I can provide job id also..
In the beginning of the month I started working at a new place for a promising client, but realized the team is absolutely disorganized and no one is willing to do much. I haven’t gotten onboarding from my team and no one takes notes... is it bad to start looking again?
