Happy Valentine’s day
I haven’t started yet, but have had a couple of Accenture PMs reach out regarding open roles for upcoming projects. All meetings have gone fine and promising, only to lead up to a rejection that they’re moving with another resource. Does Accenture move quickly in resourcing for projects?

Put a DNS block in your calendar from midnight-your start time.
Prevents any unwanted meetings going in out of hours and it sets boundaries with your colleagues.
I also do this with my hour for lunch..
It think this should be the learning. Even if you have a flexible schedule, or especially if you have a flexible schedule, it is your responsibility to communicate your availability.
It is totally normal, in the absence of other information, for your boss to assume that you will be available at 9am on a workday.
“Apologies, but I did not receive this meeting invite until this morning. Happy to reschedule to xyz time or abc time today. Looking forward to connecting!”
Love this. Thank you.

What is so unreasonable about setting a meeting invite for 9am? It’s only 30 minutes before your preferred start time.
Yeah, he was totally flexible and I worded it ‘In the future, I am always happy to plan for a 9am’. So he knows I’m okay with it but need to like, know about it first. I also told them that it’s best if we make set hours, so if they don’t have any specific care about what the hours are, I will send them my schedule and inform of any changes (as it is flexible and I can take doctors appointments if needed, etc). Thanks for all the advice!
Sending meeting invites in the middle of the night for first thing in the morning when you don’t know when someone will be starting is inconsiderate af. And they know that. They’ll be fine.
Oh I’m so glad to hear it was no biggie!
Just propose a new time and leave it at that?
Hi X,
Thanks for the invite. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to make this time work. I’ll follow up with (EA Name) this morning to find an alternative time. Looking forward to connecting!
Best,

I saw it when there were 5 minutes left to the meeting.
I hate this. Before I go to bed I check my meetings so I can plan ahead. Usually I’ll just ignore those meetings or propose a new time and send a note saying that I had other commitments in the morning and would like to be informed in advanced next time unless this is a critical situation
That’s why I’m asking here 😬 I’m nervous about coming across mad lol (bc I am)
I used to have a manager who would pop meetings on my calendar at like 8 am and send the invite at 2 am. I just had to get in the habit of setting calendar invites to automatically decline until I accept them
So annoying. I’ll be sending them my anticipated schedule and will build my calendar accordingly.

Do you check your emails in the morning when you get up?
Haha it’s a curse- take some of my hours. I wake up exhausted no matter what.
Just apologize and move on man. Don't think/dwell too much
What does it mean to not have we working hours? Any 12 hours a day you want? I think it is a normal expectation that someone is working by 9am
They don’t want 9-5, they don’t need 9-5, the job isn’t enough to fill 9-5, and the team I direct have their own hours and some are part-time evening hours. I’m happy with 9-5, would even prefer it, but if they don’t do that and say 10 am is more than fine and then schedule a 9am at midnight prior, that makes no sense.
@op. Are you in consulting. Those groups have their own set of rules and think it's completely normal to change the rules that they hired you under
No, I’m in industry as director of a department of recruiters and consultants. I like structure and communicated expectations, if they won’t give to me I will provide them with my schedule and remind them that I am flexible for planned meetings during 9-5 any day, as long as I am given some notification prior.
