My friend lives in Hoboken. It’s close to Manhattan and she’s in a beautiful building with a garage, rooftop, in unit laundry, etc. She’s paying like $2100 for a HUGE 1 bedroom with a large private terrace, lots of natural light and beautiful layout and design.

Perhaps. They moved there in November.

If you want to stay on the PATH line for easy and quick transport into Manhattan, then Jersey City or even Harrison are good options. Harrison has many new buildings and restaurants. I always use apartmentratings.com for tenant reviews that help with the search.

Jersey City, Hoboken, Weehawken should all do the trick

I live in downtown jersey city and love it. 5 min walk from the path and get to WTC in 10 minutes. Rent like 1250 for a luxury 2 bedroom (covid special)

1250 pp* McKinsey b right. I also used the Hoboken girl Facebook group to find this apt like a yr ago

Look along the NJ transit lines. Stick to New Brunswick above and you'll definitely be under an hour to Penn, and if you want to stretch a bit you can look as far down as Princeton.

It’s gotten quite expensive again on the JC waterfront. Hopefully will get better in the winter

After 10 years in the city I moved to Hoboken & the extra money in my paycheck is nice but the biggest perk is a 1 nice bed with washer dryer for 2k. It’s also much quieter & I am far less stressed here.

Also depends on your budget! But there are quite a few nice riverfront apartments in edge water. Otherwise, my family’s from ridgefield/Hackensack area which usually takes me about 40 min to go to/from the city on the njt bus

like

jersey city. im in exchange place and it’s 1 stop (15 min) door to door to WTC. rent is $2600 for 1bed 1bath in a lux condo and alott of space (no covid special)

Thank you! I will look into it tonight!

I live in Weehawken/Port Imperial area near the ferry stop/light rail. New apartment 1BD - 850 sq with amenity/swimming pool for around $2.4K. Ferry takes 8 min, bus takes 15-25 min depending on traffic to Port Authority or I can drive into office.

I ended up on the UWS post 2008 as Hoboken was more expensive than NYC!

Shh Manager, that's a secret!

Parents are deciding between moving to WVirginia vs Virginia for retirement to be closer to us based in fairfax, va(ideally be at 1 hour driving distance). They currently in the mid west but WVirginia appeals to them because of low taxes, low cost of living. We are also poc so appreciate some diversity. What are some areas you would recommend both in Va and WV? What else should they consider prior to house hunting? Dad likes to garden/farm as well so looking for homes with large backyards. Tia!

Can someone help me figure out what a qualified transportation expense is. Will be commuting from Jersey to my job in the city and my company said this plan would allow me to set aside pretax & after tax funds from paycheck to pay for qualified commuter expenses. Is this a good deal ? Am I basically paying for it and then getting reimbursed ?
