I am feeling a little guilty. Here it is 5 days into vacation and I have not even opened the computer to grade / prepare school work. And here I told the 8th graders to use their week off to catch up on all the missing work! Sheeeesh!! Double sheeeesh!!!

Just sent an email to c. 70 people on a global project, and getting a wave of OOO messages back. Soon I’ll be able to say « Piss off I’m on holiday » in every language on Earth 🌍

Have only gotten ~16hrs of sleep since Monday and am still working right now on slides while crying on and off uncontrollably bc exhaustion . I'm supposed to be on pto tomorrow cont.

My spouse has spent 4 yrs in major market biglaw. She has always been interested in public policy/government work and went to law school to do that work. After 2016 election, left DC and did corporate. Now she wants to go back and has had several interviews over the past 5 months with a major DC law firm/lobbying firm. Final round interview in Dec went really well. No response for a month, no response to follow up emails. Is this just holiday delay or should she consider this opp dead?

Would moving to Booz from D be seen as a major step down? Feel like I’m not doing anything important at D. Is the grass any greener?

I hear of UX/Product designers that make 120k out of school and recruiters are throwing out numbers even greater than that. No visibility into what my coworkers are making so I’m here.

I have 8 years of design experience in addition to design education, 3 of those years are in UX/Product design. I’m making $102k, med/vis/dental, up to 6% 401k match, unlimited PTO and options worth ~10k vested in a couple years. Bonus last year was ~10%. NYC startup.

When leaving KPMG for another company, what are the payouts, if any? (Unused vacation days, etc) And is a 401k rollover required, or can you stay with Merrill Lynch?

I have had many setbacks while I was in college which negatively affects my worth in this competitive market. I am an international student as well, which puts more pressure on to me.
