I have seen it at pwc actually. They won't layoff. They will ship you out to different cities to assist with needs. Eventually ppl leave and it evens itself back out. It's always a balancing act. In a couple years you will be asking for ppl in your office.
Very low chance they will pay for moving expenses if it's voluntary and esp as an associate. Although PwC hasn't historically done layoffs. I wouldn't rule it out - it seems like there's more than a few offices long on associates.
What office are you in and which offices are you looking to?
PWC1, thanks, that makes me feel better about how this will all shake out, not only for myself but for my fellow associates who are all pretty cool people. I don't want to see anyone lose their job because there isn't enough work to go around. PWC2, I'm in SoCal. All three offices here are fully staffed or over staffed at the associate level, so any move would have to be more long distance. I know Phoenix and Texas offices have been asking for people so I assume they would send extra people there. I know getting to pick and choose offices is more common for Seniors and above, who already have a valuable skill set to offer. So I don't imagine we'll have a lot of say in the matter.
^You'll get shipped out to whichever market needs you the most. If not enough quit and still overstuffed in a few years they will cut the lowest rated. It's really a bad system, as they continuously over hire and then end up laying people off, but it's reality and never seems to end.
Isn't the firm still paying ppl several grand to move to Florida?
^ seniors and managers.
PwC Dallas borrows a lot of peeps from other offices since some groups are understaffed. Not sure how combining markets with Houston will affect this though.
