Are others seeing nepotism in candidates during recruiting that is counteracting diversity and inclusion efforts? How are you keeping the motivation to continue fighting for equality? Feeling very discouraged right now.
I really don’t understand the hate against Diversity and Inclusion efforts. I grew up hearing my parents worry about being passed over for promotions and denied opportunities, due to race. It’s a real concern for black professionals.
I am trying flexible seating for the 1st time this year, and I feel like kids are just sitting with their friends and segregating themselves by gender. For those who do flexible seating, how do you
Apply to attend the Smithsonian Science Education Center STEM Education Summit to Increase Diversity Within the STEM Teacher Workforce (applicants who are selected will receive fully-sponsored access to the summit and 1 year of mentor support at no cost). https://ssec.si.edu/event/stem-education-summit-building-coalition-attracting-and-retaining-diverse-stem-teaching
Is anyone else having difficulty when teaching pronouns now with non-binary terms? My students insist on the fact that Susan doesn’t have to be she it could be they. Answer key says she. How do we handle this?!?!
do you think diversity issues are concentrated in creative wings of agencies (like pigeonholing POC in account or HR), or is it more widespread?
I wish glass door would tell you gender. Would love to see how much more men creatives still get paid more than women.
What do DEI people actually do? Besides give the (mostly false) appearance of diversity within the agency?
Is this place for gender/sexual minorities as well? I'm a gay transgender man, but as I'm white, I'm not sure if I belong here.
What’s a better way to say, ‘you guys’?
Seems that Fearless girl was made by unfair men. “It became the financial world’s most iconic symbol of gender equality and won 18 honors at the prestigious Cannes Lions, including four Grand Prix” http://www.adweek.com/agencies/financial-firm-behind-fearless-girl-will-pay-5-million-for-allegedly-underpaying-women-and-minorities/
This question is not gender related, yet I don’t want to be ‘mansplained’ to, hence asking here ;) it’s related to taxable income at Deloitte...
See this being shared everywhere on LinkedIn and Twitter: If white women continue to be the face of diversity, then what is diversity?
“It just stresses me out-having ALL women on this project. It’s not even a gender thing. It just... if anything it‘d be MORE sexist to keep the team “as-is” simply BECAUSE you’re all women, you know?"
Lady 🐠, every time I see one of these lists publish I always puke. For the most part I don't see our most talented and creative being highlighted... I only see the most politically motivated http://www.adweek.com/brand-marketing/37-women-who-are-disrupting-the-status-quo-and-championing-gender-diversity-in-advertising-and-tech/
Curious what everyone’s caseloads look like in their district if you are a resource room teacher. Do you have 504’s and IEP’s on your caseload?
What are the drawbacks of filing a second I485? For context I’m ROW and filed an EB I485 in May last year (Texas service center so still waiting). I am now eligible to file I485 under the diversity lottery program, that would be faster and no need to stay with my employer after GC
Potential opportunity to move permanent to HSBC. Probably GCB4 grade, any thoughts on salary expectations?
Would you take the following offer: Base - ~$180K; Bonus - ~$30K; RSU - ~$15k; Total Comp - ~$225K; F500 firm, not tech, mid-west, individual contributor role with potential for senior roles in 2 years. Good WLB, but not the most interesting industry. Currently working at a T2 Strategy Consulting firm, 2.5 years out of a T10 MBA. $200K all in. 7 YoE. Happy with consulting so far and performing well, but would like better WLB. How much better are tech exit ops given SF cost of living?
Consulting work life balance is simply taking a toll on me! Is it true that industry jobs have more work life balance than a big 4 consulting? I like my work but I am working for long crazy hours and also over the weekends (pay isn’t justified at the same time)
Advice on taking and passing the SPHR exam?
Thoughts on reporting recruiters on LinkedIn when they ghost you? I’ve had several reach out, hype me for a job, then I’ve done the work to learn about it, the company, etc. Additionally, I’ve talked to either them and/or someone closer to the position. I’m not really looking for a new job but am open. I think it’s unethical to completely ghost after having an applicant go through all of this. Especially if someone is looking.
If you were looking to exit Big 4 Consulting, what positions would you be targeting? I have done a little of everything with no specialization (great performance reviews across the board). But now a little unsure of what my skills really are from an employer POV.
Are there any benefits (e.g. from the government) for first-time homebuyers? I don’t currently own a home and am looking to buy my first rental property. Thank you!
What’s a good base salary for first year associate at 30B fund in HCOL area pls? Recently saw my old firm (not PE or bank) start paying first years 100k (same as IB)
Whats your go-to meal when cooking a quick lunch while WFH? Lately I’ve been making roasted sheet pan veggies (sweet potatoes, red onions, broccoli, asparagus and seasoning) and it’s epic. 20 minutes on medium heat and then 5 on broil. Love it!
Any tech interview prep services you recommend? Is there a Case in Point book for bizops? I landed a FAANG bizops interview and might invest $$ to avoid blowing this opportunity.
Hey all - I am at a regional firm in the northeast (300 employees) that recently started a search to include permanent remote, full time or part time roles in every facet of our tax group. We honestly are growing quickly (below average turnover) and just need more good people as our client base grows. Good management, very fair compensation, and an actually flexible work environment (we have quite a few part time / reduced hours) and advancement opportunities... Give me a shout!
Have an interview scheduled with a friend from undergrad - worth flagging to HR / the hiring manager for a potential conflict?
Both roles are within the big 4. Which service line has better exit ops? Consulting or audit?
Any folks in Mastercard Advisors? Whats a Managing Consultant equivalent to with MBB levels?
Has anyone read either Dave Burgess's "Teach Like a Pirate" or "Lead Like a Pirate" books? What's your takeaway from them?
Currently at BCG, received offer from another MBB offering additional 12 months tenure credit for recognizing my prior-MBB experience. Jump?
What is the maternity/paternity leave policy at your firm (in the US)? EY is 16 weeks for both. What is the ideal amount of time for leave in your opinion?
