trying to decipher: Persons background is very technical and they are the "go to" for technical matters on the team. When projects are being considered, they are usually last in line for inclusion
Do other firms have an Asian Diversity or affinity group? If so, what are some of the things the networks have done which have been helpful?
Anyone ever used a ride share app that employs women only? Really wish it was an option to choose gender on Uber... especially for late night rides
I am looking to gain certification or other credentialing in diversity and inclusion, not only because it would look good on my resume both for future job-search purposes and also to become better educated in this area, which is growing in importance. I looked at SHRM's "Inclusive Workplace Culture Specialty Credential" and got a bit of "sticker shock" at the cost - $1,655.00 for members. Does anyone have other suggestions on training/credentialing in this area?
SM asked me to “fix the gender ratio” on a pursuit deck where I had a team of 3 men and 5 women. Guarantee if it had been 6 men and 2 women he wouldn’t have batted an eye 🙄
What kinds of production diversity requests/protocols/mandates is anyone else getting right now?
Does this ring true for many of you? https://www.nytimes.com/2020/05/06/upshot/pandemic-chores-homeschooling-gender.html
I have pretty clear evidence of gender pay discrimination. Anyone have a California based employment attorney with expertise in this area?
There’s been a rise in Diversity equity and inclusion trainings. My experience with these has always been terrible. How has your experience been? Anyone have good experiences? If yours has been terrible too, what should they have done differently?
Does anyone notice there has been an increase of Asian Americans suddenly trying to benefit from initiatives fought for by Black Americans while claiming their struggle trumps that of Black Americans? I find it strange. At my firm, I am a senior exec who have seen Black colleagues fight for 7+ years for diversity initiatives and we have finally gotten some notice at my firm. Nobody wants to be a minority until it’s beneficial to be one. And I peep the game and the change in behavior
Do you show your human side at work? Also share your gender if you’re comfortable. I’m F and I generally do, but wondering if this is not perceived well. For example, sometimes I talk to my peers about my weekend plans, sometimes about how tired I am because of work, I recently had surgery and shared with them details about it.
Hey, I’ve just started a bowl on diversity in London specifically if anyone is interested - 9qo8f
From one HR to the other - what do we think about the level of diversity shown in this vid released by my employer earlier today? I think they‘ve done a nice job trying to feature a good mix but might‘ve actually „overdone“ it? Might be cause I’m used to male-only engineering lol https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:6871427562401275904
On a scale of 1 to 10, how male dominated is your team/practice/office? 1=gender parity 😃 10=only 1-3 women 😒
I’m a mid-level working in a niche area in NYC. I like the work I do, put in long hours, high quality work, take time to mentor juniors, etc. I see myself at a law firm long term but now wondering if this is the right firm to make partner. Among others, one big concern I have is the non-existent emphasis on diversity and inclusion initiatives (they aren’t even pretending to care...), no committees, no statements in support of POC, etc. How do I find firms really committed to these issues?
This Diversity in Leadership post is litty! If you enjoy reading comments and/or passionate one way or another about responding to ignant folk...enjoy https://joinfishbowl.com/post_53qxycw
Did you know? “Women receive ‘negative personality criticism’, such as being called bossy or told to ‘watch their tone’ in around 75% of performance reviews. Men, on the other hand, rarely do.” From https://cultureplusconsulting.com/2018/03/10/gender-bias-work-assertiveness-double-bind/
Just got a new job and feeling like the “diversity hire.” Everyone else is white or Indian and in the town halls they keep talking about upping Diversity and Inclusion targets to include more Female and Black/Latino individuals.
Parent🐠 who have kids in school: are you sending them to private or public schools? Do you think that will impact how they’ll turn out? I grew up in another country so dont know US school system well

What are some good agency internship programs other than the Kennedys (Amsterdam/London) or The Pipe (Ogilvy London)? Even better if the chances of hiring are high.

https://www.yahoo.com/huffpost/district-layoffs-094500928.html For those who have been screaming we can't open the economy back up until there is a vaccine, I hope you realize this is only the beginning of layoffs-and just one sector of economy.

Is anyone else struggling to focus on MBA Apps because it’s hot vax summer? Don’t have time during the week bc of demanding job so was planning on spending weekends working but I always have plans and zero motivation...
What can I expect from a last round panel interview for a Strategy & Ops position with LinkedIn? Its supposed to be a 30 minute conversation with a few members of their hiring team.
Might be a long shot but my husband and I are wanting to move back home to the Fayetteville, AR area. Any firms hiring in that area for staff level? Just finished my first busy season (had 2 this year). Currently in audit in financial services, asset management, but willing to work in other areas, even advisory.
Has anyone left their firm to be an independent contractor doing similar work? If so, what rate did you bill at? Have an opportunity to do some work with an old client and am trying to set a fair rate
Anybody with 3 YOE+ switch from Core tax to their international group? How was the transition? Did you have to step down a level if you were a recent senior/manager? Did you have to switch firms? Reason I ask is that I wouldn't mind delaying my promotion to manager to get international experience. Want to experience international before jumping from PA.
Are there any non-tech roles at big tech or 🦄 companies that let me travel occasionally like in Consulitng, but less often? Love the work in tech, but cant let go of consulting lifestyle. Thanks in advance!
My parents have always said put the most amount into your 401k but I only put around 8-9%. I currently have 223k in it at 35. I would put more but I have been investing that money in the market to hopefully use in the next couple of years. Any advice on what is a good percentage. I'm sure most will tell me to max out.
