How do you handle being asked to support “diversity recruiting” when you don’t actually recommend your firm to diverse talent? How do you manage the optics of saying no and potentially saying no repeatedly?

@ legacy strategy PPEDs - in light of our supposed commitment to diversity and inclusion, what is the plan for the ED who is widely known for making openly racist and misogynistic comments in the office and on social media?
I was told by a PPED in NY today that the reasons I'm not up for partner is needing to lose weight, not being female or a diversity candidate, and not having the right family image (married with kids)
Thought: When you see diversity of skin color as the most critical factor you miss out of diversity of experience and ideas. Quite often these overlap, but there are a lot of people out there like JD Vance who come from poor white roots, but because of their skin color they’re assumed to have some magical privilege bestowed upon them by society. Likewise, wealthy people of color are lumped in with their less affluent counterparts. We’re so quick to look at skin color and see the sum (cont’d)

I am all for equal rights and inclusion and diversity. If we are going to have real change. I need some insights from women fish. Why is it if the internet is down, computer or TV is acting up, it is my fault because I have a penis? This holds true from a diverse set of females - my mother, wife, daughter, etc. When is this inequality going to be addressed?
On a call with the CEO talking about diversity and they compare a person with tattoos experiencing prejudice in the office to Black people colleague experiences... Meanwhile last I checked, a tattoo was a choice and removable. Also depending on placement, you can’t see it.
I have an outlook folder named 'crap’ to auto route useless communications from certain people/ groups. That list is now 20+. I guess it’s time to create ‘crap 2’ for diversity
Quick vent: I really hate when people aren’t inclusive! I invite my roommate out all the time with my friends and we have a great time. I haven’t received a single invite back. She definitely has more friends than I do in the area so it would help me out a lot to be invited & included to form a friend group. I even tried to invite myself and still no inclusion. Ugh.
I have a controversial observation: Facebook seems to be using recruitment process managers to get diversity hires. I've looked at all the RPM hires over the past few years and every one of them seems to be a woman, most commonly a woman of color. I'm all for diversity, but this feels out of balance. Am I wrong?

Best consulting firms for real inclusion?
Starting full time at McKinsey in November. Curious to know what it’s like for fellow gender non-conforming folk, as well as non-binary and trans folks at the firm (or as consultants in general!) Been here almost a year now at L2 and was an manager equivalent before coming here. I feel like I have 0 insight into what I need to be doing to get promoted? I’m getting mostly 1s, but don’t feel like I have actionable “do X and demonstrate Y and then you can be put up for promotion”. Any advice?

As a high performing Tax Senior 2 in financial services, at what % pay raise would you consider switching to industry? I’m asking this cause I don’t even feel comfortable negotiating for this much salary (current + 15%) since there will be so much to learn at the new job. But maybe just impostor syndrome?
I'm a first year atty. I make $45K at a small firm of 5. In the last three weeks, my assistant has been fired (caught with pot on break), another paralegal quit, and now another assistant has resigned. I have a caseload of 80, with no help. Boss says they are looking, they made an offer, but if that person accepts, it will be weeks before they are ready. I'm falling apart and crying at my desk and can't sleep. Told owner. "Hang in there." Do I walk now? Or hang in there?
So my client is “business casual” but everyone typically wears suits without the tie. How do you guys structure different outfits? I feel like I’m running out of clothes already and need to buy more
What percentage increase would you need to leave public accounting for a position at the same level (example: Manager to Manager) in industry? And as follow-up, if your public accounting firm then came back and matched the offer, would you stay or would you go? Looking for some other perspectives and consideration as a decision could be looking myself.
