I’m in a final round at Uber, but worried I’m there to just fill the diversity candidate spot from their “Rooney rule” policy. Anyone have any advice on how to figure out if that’s true or am I just being crazy?
Ugh, I'm so sick of being interrupted! Any tips on how to prevent this? Let's not make this a gender issue. Genuinely want help.
Next question (based on a great conversation in 1 of the threads): how do gender roles and expectations play into your decisions about work and family?
BDO doing a great job of promoting diversity. Those who know, know that only white men succeed. No minorities or women in upper management #diversityfail. https://www.bdo.com/services/assurance
Diversity and Inclusion speakers. Who’s got it going on? Can be from anywhere. Any topics/questions that they addressed that stood out to you?
I am looking to gain certification or other credentialing in diversity and inclusion, not only because it would look good on my resume both for future job-search purposes and also to become better educated in this area, which is growing in importance. I looked at SHRM's "Inclusive Workplace Culture Specialty Credential" and got a bit of "sticker shock" at the cost - $1,655.00 for members. Does anyone have other suggestions on training/credentialing in this area?
I know this topic does not get talked about much but will eventually impact almost all of us so here goes. I am thinking of retiring (early) and would love recommendations for countries that I can retire to that. Primary factors would be cost if living, safety, warm climate, good health care system, (preferably) close to the US - not a requirement, stable government and laws, diversity in landscape (beach, rivers, mountains). Definitely not super rich so thinking of 5k a month in expenses.
"No, the Google manifesto isn’t sexist or anti-diversity. It’s science." Interesting take by (female) scholar: https://beta.theglobeandmail.com/opinion/no-the-google-manifesto-isnt-sexist-or-anti-diversity-its-science/article35903359/?ref=https://www.theglobeandmail.com&service=mobile
Yay! It’s “diversity” y’all! 🙄
Gibson Dunn: What are people’s thoughts on the quality of work, firm culture, diversity, and career opportunities?
Hello all, how can we approach the gender pay gap at our respective employers? I know I’ve mentioned it before but it seems to make Culture & Talent, as well as Legal cringe. I don’t expect them to publish salaries, nor do I wish this, I just want to see what steps we can take to make our voices heard. Let’s open the floor up for ideas and suggestions!!
Doing a poll here to see the gender split in this bowl. can you lease ‘like’ one of the options below ? (It’s more efficient than each of us typing a separately response)
Tim Castree (GroupM NA CEO) announced the creation of GroupM's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Board today via email. Out of 12, only 4 are women and 1 is POC.
we just had a day full of workshops about inclusion, so maybe my job is safe for a few months.
I do not care about my gender. I do not identify with anything and I don't care what pronouns people want to use for me. They can call me a she or he or they and it just doesn't matter to me. I don't know what to call that? Non-binary folks I've met feel pretty strongly that they are not "male" or "female." I don't feel strongly like that. Idk. Just confused I guess lol
Anyone have insight on joining a company that’s known as a “white boys club?” Have an offer in hand that I really like but not much diversity from what I see. Not sure how this’ll impact me, if at all
Desperately seeking more diversity in this industry. No matter how much one agency claims to be diverse, it’s just never there
I can't take all the new college grads on Facebook saying they're ready to conquer the world with their degree in Gender Studies and minor in Lesbian Dance Therapy.
How come there’s no diversity hires for Asians...😕
Help! My niece wants a baby alive doll for her birthday and apparently I got the wrong one! She wants the one with something to do with a “belly button”!?!? Don’t have more info than that...
Reputable agency in my city, lots of awards and good clients (not global)......vs......global agency, (smaller in my city) weaker clients but a 10k raise.....decisions are hard!!!
Currently an S1 in TR in the north west, making 94k. Just started talks with KPMG, what should I throw out there for salary expectations? I stated 110k and was told that’s in range, just want to make sure I’m not undercutting myself.
Everyone talks about lack of WLB at MBB. For those 1st or 2nd year post MBA, how is your day specifically structured? At my current job I work 12 hour days but outside of core team meetings I have autonomy to decide when to get my work done- meaning I can go to dinner with friends or go to the gym in the evening fairly easily.
I have had an insane yr- looking like I’m going to beat billable goal by 400+ hours. I’m supposed to take the last two weeks of the year off but after looking @ my todo list I’m getting severely pessimistic about being able to meet the deadlines and actually taking the PTO. All of these are court deadlines and I’m not in a position to move them. Bc of the crazy year, pandemic, etc. I am running on fumes. How do I make it these last few weeks? How do you ever take real pto in this industry?
How hard is it to move between Sr Principal and Sr Director? Internally their the same “level” at my company… but I’m wondering if it will be hard to make that leap if I ever left? Context: I’ve had directs before and run large teams before, but will being an IC mean I have to go backwards in my next role if I dong stay internal?
Level of interest in midterms is 73% among seniors, 35% among young voters. If you’re sick of the country being run by old people scared of immigrants and “socialism,” be a voter. Make a plan NOW.
What is the process of getting TSA pre for GC holders? Is this any different from when you are on visa ?
I got an offer to jump from Deloitte to Accenture Strategy. For folks who have recently made the jump, how does the work culture compare? Especially work-life balance?
Starting week 3 at PwC and I’m still on the bench. I’m networking and doing trainings to fill time but honestly not pushing *that* hard for a project… just enjoying the calm before the storm. What’s the longest you’ve waited before you were assigned your first engagement at a firm?
Hi everyone! I’m a young CPA, relocating to Raleigh. I made the decision to transition into sales after realizing that I want to bring more fun into my career. I’m currently reading sales books, watching Keenan’s YouTube channel, and learning all I can. I’m relentlessly applying for SDR positions but I’m having trouble landing interviews (been applying through LinkedIn). I would appreciate advice from anyone who transitioned from another industry into sales. How did you break the barrier?
So EY LAW said there are risk traveling to Puerto Rico without a visa stamp even though it’s a territory and that travel should be kept to absolute necessary ones at this time. I understand from a lot of threads that there are no threats traveling to PR immigration wise but is it wise to disregard what they are explicitly asking one to do? They also asked to keep travel advisories in mind if I still plan on traveling there.
How many times/years can H1b be extended after 6 yr term if I change jobs to another employer with previous employer approved i140 without starting new Perm process ?

One Crunch or All Crunch plan? I don’t foresee myself going to multiple locations, but there’s a good promotion going on right now…
Do you think it’s worth it to get a masters abroad if my intention is probably to come back and work in the US? I want to go down a career route that focuses on ESG/socially conscious investing and I’m not sure if I should get one of those masters in sustainability that they’re advertising nowadays or go the general MBA route with a concentration in that. I realize I could probably continue without a masters but this would be my career pivot moment. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
