Anyone else remember when Uber (or Lyft) were faster, cheaper, cleaner, and better vehicles than cabs?
Now, in the time it takes to walk from C gates to cab line the app still can't figure out I'm back at ORD, an UberX is over $70, or a black over $100.
It will take 15 min to get a car (8 min according to the app) and it will be a dirty Toyota Corolla
Meanwhile there is no one in the cab line and in a crossover with much more space for $50

Nice work fixing the taxi industry Uber!!
Make sure they stay in a hotel
Hangge Uppe!! The hangy uppy the haan-jay, oop-ay...the kamikaze bar in the basement. This is the only choice.
I am liking my own reply because this advice is so on point.
Improv Shakespeare!
Check out Second City
Lots of nice restaurants for brunch, lunch or dinner in the city. Museums galore (Art Institute, MCA, Field, Science & Industry, Planetarium, etc). Broadway plays as well. If they like sports, you could see if the Blackhawks or Bulls will be playing and take them to a game. Check Thrillist, TimeOut, or Do312 for a view of what events are going on that weekend and grab tickets to anything that seems up your parent's alley.
Where are they coming from? If it’s not a major city, suggest some big city amenities like Botanical garden, art institute, etc. At night they might like to go to broadway in Chicago or one of the many theaters we have like goodman, cort, Shakespeare, or improv.
Get a reservation for one of the trendy places for brunch or dinner and have a few simple meals.
I always like to spend a bit of time with my kids’ friends while I visit them. It makes me feel like they are going to be fine in a new place by themselves. If you can arrange that, it might be fun. Maybe just invite a few people over to hang out and order some pizzas.
Other than that just try to be nice to them and accept them, try not to let them trigger you. I know it can be tough.
