Been mortgage-free for a decade. Taxes and insurance on home account for around 1% of HHI.

Good question. I don’t recall. However, our home currently accounts for about 15% of our net worth.

33% NJ

6% (cuz I’m cheap as hell)

smart

9% now but was 16% when I bought 7 years ago (Massachusetts)

That’s a good way to look at it as it def changes

How do you calcualte this? Annualized PITI / Annual HHI? Or monthly PITI / Annualized HHI?

like

Then mine is 16%

About 10% now, was 33% when I bought it as a bright eyed bushy tailed associate.

27% Boston

10% - Chicago

24% NY

8% Chicago.

About 150% cumulatively. Rents cumulatively result in a DSCR of around 1.2 but if more than one vacancy, it results in unsustainably large monthly bite out of my W2 income

12% Chicago

What is PITI

Principal, Interest, Taxes, Insurance

helpful

6%, Texas. Was 12% when we bought 3 years ago

It was 20% and now it’s 15%. NJ

2%

15% in DC area

1.2% Chicago

What is HHI and how do you calculate it?

Household income. Gross of what you and your spouse make in a year.

14% Los Angeles

Anyone with advice for new mid-level associates? I’m a 3rd year doing biglaw M&A and have found the transition to be more difficult than starting at my firm. In particular, being responsible for managing and mentoring a first year associate on deals and reviewing/knowing their work product thoroughly (especially diligence) while also being tasked with taking the first shot at initial drafts/mark-ups of deal docs has me feeling stretched thin and making more errors than I used to.
