My personal mantra/ “word” for the school year is Stay Positive. My reason is that I understand my attitude navigates my classroom environment and well being. What’s yours and why?

Mine has been "decide". I always second guess myself, especially with teaching, so for me it's a reminder to trust my knowledge (and my instincts).

Welcome to our pre-k inclusive classroom. Even with 8 students, and only face to face for 4 hours, we struggle. We struggle being heard through our masks. We struggle with social distancing. We struggle as we find ourselves constantly reminding students to keep their masks on. We struggle to keep them engaged and to teach. One thing we do not struggle with- building connections and showing out love for each child.

What is your top favorite lesson? Mine would be one last year when I had to find the time to get into the classrooms and teach. I led a talk about the Harlem Renaissance and the kids made a jazz collage. It will be much easier with the art room back open.

I am a middle school social studies teacher and my husband is a high school art teacher. He has been an art teacher for a very long time and he’s not super proficient with Google classroom but I am. I have been helping him with lesson online resources & creating hyper docs for the lessons. He is struggling with the students not having a lot of supplies at home and how to have them create multiple day art pieces. he teaches at a low income area, how is everyone handling supplies to students?

My wife is a teacher and trying to get into the business world. Shes the most organized, personable, detail oriented person I know, so i know she’d do great in something implementation / customer success / project management / business academy related. Any certifications she can get to get noticed & get people to take a chance on her? No luck so far trying to relate the classroom/parent/administration management dynamic to interfacing with a client 😓

I teach PreK in a public school. Our state allows PreK programs to nap without masks if proper ventilation is provided. I have 16 children, a minimum of 3 feet apart, no masks, with two LOUD air filters, two tiny windows open, the outside and hall door open, at average in 72-76 degrees. What is your childcare classroom doing for rest time?

I would love to connect and see what possibilities are out there for me.

Weekly Hot Take. We need more arcades. Not like "Dave and busters" we need more old style arcades. There arent many in my area that are well known, it would be alot better for teens to have a place they can go if they aren't in an after-school program. I really just roamed the streets with my friends. Straight A student who had some after school stuff. It would hit 5 pm or a day when the programs didnt meet, we didn't have a space to be social.
