My personal phone bill comes out to $68 per month which includes $55 in text, call, and data and $13 in phone installment. Am I able to expense $60 or only $55?

Expense policy is pretty explicit that EY won’t pay for your phone itself, just the plan.

Don’t fudge your expenses. Not ever. Expense $55. The policy is clear

$55 since instrument cost isn’t covered.

$60

Just seems like a lot of confusion with this. I definitely will be charging $55 as I'm not going to cry over $5, but I don't see why EY doesn't cover phone installments

like

$60

I’ve expensed my entire bill, including the installment plan and never had an issue the past 2+ years

Worst they can do is adjust it might as well try

Agree with EY7. Don’t ever fudge your expenses. $55 - EY doesn’t reimburse for your phone installment

My clients are pushing back on it this year, and I can't say I blame them. If I were in their shoes, I'd rather take the risk of not filing than the expense of filing again. From my own point of view, I don't really want to spend my time on such returns, either, even if the revenue and easy return are nice.

Tax question - I make about $200k and get half of my income from a W-2 and another half from being an independent contractor. Because, I’m subject to pay both FICA and SECA taxes. Do my social security taxes get capped on amounts paid above the ~$140k threshold across both my W-2 and 1099 incomes or am I out of luck and have to pay more than that since only about 100k of my income is FICA and the other 100K is SECA (which is subject to ~12% overall including the ER portion)?
