Just happened to me. Take it hour by hour and please plan to take a day off this week. Cry if you need to and maybe plan to get fresh air
Dang, I’m sorry to hear that you’re going through the same thing. I appreciate the encouragement to take time off. It can be hard to do in this job.
Confide in a colleague you trust as to your situation; depending on your current working situation (either WFH or in the office) go for a short 10-15 min walk to “reset”; get lunch with colleagues to distract yourself. Unfortunately this will be a tough week and I’m sorry to hear.
Thank you so much for these kind words! Fortunately I can WFH most of this week. The weather is great, so I’ll try to follow your advice to take a walk today.
Same thing happened to me about 10 days ago. It has been touch and go for me. I confided in some colleagues and even some partners I work with. They encouraged me to WFH
It’s rough! A friend sent me flowers to my office, which was an amazingly nice gesture but then I melted down and my firm knew something was up. Thankfully I was met with so much love and support and telling people actually helped me. We are all humans and life happens. After a week and a half I’m doing better! You will be doing better soon too.
Just wanted to say I’m so sorry and you will get through this tough time. Take it one day at a time and if necessary one hour at a time. This will pass ❤️
Thank you for the kind words! Much appreciated.
I’m so sorry.. Honestly, work may be a good distraction for you, it was for me. My best advice is to stay busy. While at work, try your best to get through the day. If you need a minute, take a minute. Take a walk, go outside if you need to cry, and try to stay off social media.. i found social media really triggering. Make plans with friends for after work. Schedule phone calls with other people if you don’t have plans for after work. Hang in there, sending good thoughts 🤍
Ask your team if they are able to cover for you for a day or two. Exercise. Sleep. Do NOT text your ex!!
Pickup or download audio version of Getting Past Your Breakup by Susan D. Elliott...even just the first chapter or two totally changed my perspective and helped me push forward days after a recent break-up. It should be required reading. Hang in there.
Thanks all for your kind words and encouragement! I got through the first/toughest day and even billed an acceptable amount. Hopefully each day gets better from here :)
