Although Amazon has instituted a hiring freeze and layoffs are probably on their way, I went through the loop for a security engineer position at AWS. Before I attended the final interviews, Amazon placed the hiring freeze and called me to ask if I wanted to go ahead or cancel my application. I decided do go ahead Right now I'm waiting for their response and the position I applied to changed from "under consideration" to "no longer under consideration". Thoughts?

Update: was told to sit tight by his EA, going on 60+ min. I have to say, this is kinda messed up. This conversation shouldn't have been slated to be held over the phone to begin with.

What P1 said. Stinks, but sometimes they get busy. If you want to know your new salary you can go ahead and check on the Me@pwc app. Won't tell you everything you want to know, but still is better than nothing :)
To be honest, partner's time is really valuable (yes, yours is too), but this really isn't messed up. I know it can feel that way when you're waiting for comp and ratings, but it's really not a big deal. Did you ask to meet in person? Not trying to be rude, promise, just trying to explain the reality.

@op tbh, this conversation is important but shouldn't be new for you. If you come out of your outlook convo feeling "holy crap, where did that come from?" You are not getting quality feedback / or you are not asking for it effectively. I personally don't think the outlook conversation is such an important meeting aside from bonus discussion.

I see what you mean, and I don't want to sound like I'm unappreciative of what they do and their time, but I feel as though this conversation is one of the biggest for every person at the firm each year. Understanding how well you are doing as compared to your peers, making sure your career is headed in the right direction, and yes, compensation as well.
