My school wants to reach out to the community and have more involvement, but we do not know how to do that at the high school level.

Every parent wants to see their child shine. With some small scale projects, like a science/learning fair you can get almost 100% parent support, even better than parent teacher conferences.

We do jammies for grammies. The children pay (minimum $2) to wear pajamas to school and the money gets donated to buy Christmas dinner for a local nursing home. We also do a reverse advent where we bring in a particular food item each day and the food is donated to a women’s shelter. You can also have the students make Christmas cards for children at a local pediatric ward. Call shelters and hospitals, I’m sure they’ll give you plenty of ideas and ways you can help and get involved in the community.

If you have neighbors, adopt one. Have a grade level or class do nice things for them (cards, clean their yard, deliver a plant etc.)

A school in our areas is taking two of the staff inservice days to take school spirit bags to families (who sign up ahead of time with timeframes. Teachers go in pairs and meet the families on their turf! So far the response has been positive. It is a smaller school though. They’re focused just on the high school for now. Or have volunteer days where students complete projects for different organizations. Cards for veterans/seniors, organizing food/clothing drives, sorting donations for shelters, planting trees, picking up litter, there’s lots of options but sometimes the logistics can be hard.

Have the students pick up trash on a Saturday on the road that the school is on. Clean windows at school, help custodian clean the school. Help at the food bank....

Are there legal ramifications for doctors sharing medical opinions on social media? If they specify that they’re not giving medical advice is that enough? Wondering if there’s any guidance on this (I’m thinking similar to the FTC’s guidelines on how to designate social media posts as sponsored).

Comp communications are coming up. If I am unhappy with my raise or VC can I push back? Have you done that successfully without feeling like it gave you a bad reputation? My raises and bonuses have been good in the past and maybe I was naive but I’ve never thought to ask for more.

Useful tip: Try to maintain a file where you diligently update notes about all the projects you have worked on, what challenges did you face, your learnings, client/ manager testimonials etc. This will help you in your next interview. It is not humanly possible to remember every single detail.

Hey y’all, what are some good exit opportunities to look for in Canada? Some context: I’m a healthcare consultant without a clinical background, but I really don’t love the work I’m doing. Not interested in joining the public sector and unfortunately there aren’t too many startups or interesting tech companies in the healthcare/life sciences space in Canada. Any thoughts?

Have an offer from Deloitte doing the exact same thing I do at KPMG for 45% more. Partners at KPMG have basically told me they can get close to matching but not until raises happen in October. Should I trust them or jump? Worried about having to build an internal network from scratch at Deloitte but also worried about getting screwed in October and getting like a 10% raise only. M2 if it matters. Thoughts?

Not to start a political debate… I am not anti vaccine but have not wanted to get the COVID vaccine. I think I will be getting the vaccine tomorrow. Anyone else feel conflicted who originally really did not want to get it, but was kind of feeling forced to get it?

Hi! Around 3 months back I gave IBM Cognitive test as the initial assignment but bombed it due to some technical issues and my candidature was rejected further. However, my profile has again been considered by IBM for a similar role and received Cognitive test link again. Since the previous test results are valid for 1year, the activity was auto completed. What is the probability of me being considered for further rounds? Please enlighten. Thanks

“Per diem” meal expenses are EXPLOITATION. $50 is not enough for a single meal at a hotel restaurant, let alone an entire DAY for food. Shifting travel costs onto your employees = evil. Yes i mad :<

Good luck to those who are going into their first busy season! Yes, it’s daunting at first - we’ve all been there (albeit, not in a remote environment amidst a pandemic.) My best advice is to take one day at a time (marathon, not a sprint). Remember audit/tax/consulting is not life or death, and you WILL make it through. Have patience with yourself and your teams. Find a mentor! Don’t forget you can always find some moral support (read: self-deprecating humor) in your fellow fish!

Recently laid off from Sr. Consultant role in energy in Houston. 4 years exp in supply chain/procurement and 2 in consulting (mainly tech PM work aka scrum). Have my MBA and PSM 1 cert. I know opportunities are far and few between right now, but looking for either energy or supply chain consulting role. Open to travel once resumed. If anyone is aware of a need, I'd appreciate the help!
