Am I being paid competitively? I have been the Onboarding Sup for my HR dept for over a year now and I’m being paid the state min for salary, which for CA is 62,400. I have not gotten a merit raise since the last 2 January’s, the state raises the threshold for salary folks. My company says that was my raise. Is this right? I bring a background from the clinical operations of my company, scheduling, field work, and what the average employee faces. I want to look else where but I’m not sure.
A good rule of thumb about filing in another jurisdiction is speaking with the district or county clerk prior to filing. Each has a unique set of rules they adhere to so giving them a call and asking what the procedures are helps a lot. I used to work for our district clerk and we’d spend a lot of time rejecting things from people out of town when it could have been a simple phone call.
Ask if she needs training and send her to it
Most attys do their own filings at my firm. It specifies that filing should be done by the responsible atty not staff.
It is her job but maybe suggest to her to print out a the FAQs and steps beforehand so she has it front of her?
She’s pretty good with things she’s familiar with, but sometimes she needs to file for another jurisdiction and she freaks out when there are things she has to learn/get familiar with, and she kinda vented on me.. sometimes
Actually I am not sure whether it is her job. That depends on your firm. In our firm paralegals file documents with the courts we appear in. Does she have the training to do that? Does the firm update her with hen there are changes in the rules? If you want her or him to do so, you need to be sure that they have the proper training.
OP, sounds like she has anxiety. You may have to spend time teaching.
