My senior has a very "my staff works hard so that I don't have to" attitude and I'm kinda sick of it.

My first 2 busy season jobs ended (SA) and I am only booked on my new job for 20 hours this week.. I scheduled all my doctors apts for this week & am also dealing with a severe crohns diagnosis/treatment plan as well as mental health issues. Is it ok to take sick days (unlimited) for most the week this week to take care of myself? Or do I have to use vacation.. (which I don’t have much of since I got back from maternity leave in oct)

Has someone ever quit during a short-term disability leave? How did you go about it? Just emailed someone saying you won't be coming back...?

Posting here since the other bowls are mostly about CTCs. I've been out of therapy for a while and I think I'm depressed again. I don't eat, I can't sleep. I'm going through a quarter life crisis and just can't pull out. The therapist advised to not let the failures define myself. I tried to work things out but I feel like I'm failing again. What's worse, sick, not working, or a wrecked family? When I introspect, I fathom I lived a wasted year. Isn't it paradoxical to want to live and die?

When taking a personal LOA, how much detail do you need to provide to your company on why you need it? I’ve been seriously considering taking extended time off for mental health reasons mostly but do not have any specific diagnosis, I’m just beyond burnt out and just can’t keep going. Using PTO hasn’t helped. I’m worried about what the perception will be of me after that, and if I need a reason for leave that can be backed by something specific such as a medical reason.

Has anyone had experience with a service dog? Either as your own or a coworkers. I’m looking into getting one for my ADA-approved disability, but I don’t know how EY will feel about it (even though it’s covered under the law). It would be great to hear your experience!

How to handle potential backlash over mandatory mask wearing? We have an employee who refused based on having COPD. We had him fill out medical accommodation paperwork, and then put him on leave.

Is anyone else tired of hearing people talk about all of the things our seniors are missing out on? I’m so tired of this entitlement situation. Yes, it would be nice to have a graduation and end of the year activities. But these things are not owed to anyone. How about being grateful for survival? There are students all over the world that seem to get along just fine without senior activities.

Just witnessed a mess on flight with flight attendants escalating a 2.5 year old not wearing a mask. We need to drop mask mandates for kids. It’s completely impractical and causing chaos for travelers and flight attendants. Europe is age 5 and that seems way more reasonable.

10 years ago today I had my tubes tied. It was the best thing I ever did for myself. It took years standing up to practitioners, reiterating my preference, and fighting for medical decisions over my own body. Ten years later and it was all worth it.
