My senior, left at 2.5 years for $96k plus bonus, they had no CPA. Is it possible to reach that amount with a CPA but 2 years of experience?

Where’s does said senior live? If OKC, that salary seems high. If Bay Area, that salary seems low. It’s all relative. It’s also quite shocking how many salary questions there are that disregard location

like

Easy. Sounds like the SF market with 200k of squirt and 9-4 work life balance

like

Taking another look at the question, the OP is asking if a similar salary can be had with 6 months less experience but a CPA. Short answer is yes Six months isn’t significant enough to alter a salary.

What do you want in the long term? Money is great but it will come in public accounting

I wanna learn python and have more ops experience, not gonna get that in public.

Yeah no one can answer that question unless you tell us where are are located. But I’d say yes, that is reasonable for major cities like SF, NYC, LA, BOS, DC. Probably wouldn’t expect to get that much anywhere else though. I’m in SF and agree that that is maybe even a bit low for Bay Area, but then again COL here is astronomical

yes it's possible in those super high col cities. bear in mind 96k in these places won't buy you a house etc. all relative

I work as a quant/associate at a large (>300 billion aum) long only mutual fund. Ive been here for about a year, but seeing how crazy the job market is, I’m wondering if I should put feelers out again. I like my coworkers and I work good hours. I get 110k as base, and got a 10k sign-on bonus. They said min bonus is 15k, but I’m not sure what the range is as I haven’t been around for a bonus cycle. This in a HCOL city. I also get 30% match in my retirement accounts. I have ~2 YOE. Thoughts?

I know people say to not chase money but I’ve been in the industry for about 5 years (all in NYC at big old agencies) and I’ve never made anything of note. A senior position recently came up at another large agency that I don’t think will lead to great work… but it comes with a pay raise from 85 to 140. I’m in my late 30s and I’m tired of feeling like I’m not getting ahead financially. But sometimes I feel like a failure for not making a lot of cool work like my classmates from ad school.

Started in industry two weeks ago. No timesheets, 40 hour work weeks, and 30% more than what I was making previously. We use all B4 for everything, so it’s just managing their work and budgeting.
