My SO deals with some chronic injuries that I think may make him feel emasculated (eg can’t lift as much weight, sometimes has to slow down when active). We’re both in our 20s. I help when he needs/or asks for help, but does anyone have any tips on the best way to make sure he feels supported & self-sufficient?

Not similar experience, but my SO has insecurities, and I think it helps when I show appreciation in little things, like he makes coffee in the morning for me, or he reminds me to do something important, or he helps me with something I ask, could be things as little as forwarding me an email. I think it might work for your situation, he just needs to know that he is contributing (just not physically) and you recognize and appreciate his contributions.

I invited my SO to a work event where people are bringing a plus one. She said yes at first, then later followed up with an “if she can make it.” This happens almost every time I invite her to things, citing work. My BF of 3 yrs is everything I dreamed of. But, we are very different. I love to travel, date nights, etc. but he rather stay home & not spend a dime.
