Living and working in ey McLean office?
McKinsey & Company McKinsey & Company been working here one year and received pretty positive feedback. Given the expectation for people of my tenure to transition to EM in a year or so, I can’t see myself staying due to the WLB as an EM. I’m 35 and have 2 young kids. Can it even be realistically done? Would love to stay but I don’t see a balance which would keep my family happy. What options do I have from there?

Totally depends on your values, but Atlanta is obviously ideal as it has one of the most efficient airports in the word. It’s also low CoL and you can find plenty of space.
In town is definitely the most diverse / progressive place in the south, but the suburbs are pretty much Mississippi.
Nashville has probably the coolest music/festival scene but not as great from a business/airport perspective.
Charlotte has a good airport but it’s AA 👎🏼 otherwise probably #2 behind Atlanta in most metrics
Plies Charlotte is boring af. Will def recommend Atlanta.
Charlottesville - has its own airport to major hubs, Dulles is 90 miles away, town is amazing, you can get a lot of land and still go to the fantastic downtown restaurants.

Not anymore
Atlanta area
Peachtree City area. Definitely vet the area before buying if chosing south Atlanta. Some very nice areas and some very dangerous ones as well.
Plenty of places near Charlotte in NC, if you go outside of Atlanta, to the west same thing - both major hubs
Raleigh and Charlotte are good if you want cheap(ish) land and access to an airport. Where are you coming from?
Charlotte, Nashville, Raleigh/Durham, outside Atlanta
Nope not Nashville nothing there just some gas stations that’s it I promise don’t go
D5... my kinda person
Not to be rude, but you do know "the south" isn't all cows and horses right? Take Houston for instance, you can get a house on 2 acres about 45 minutes away from the airport for like $600,000.
Not to be rude, but... *is rude*
While not in the south, look at Oklahoma City. You can have acreage and only be 30 min to the airport. And its centrally located so you can work both coasts.
South of ATL. Look at PeachTree City, or Serenbe, Palmetto, GA. You can get lots of land. Maybe 20 to 30 minutes to Hartsfield
Huntsville, AL is an option as well
Raleigh (look into RTP Research Triangle Park)
We loved the Charleston area and could have had a house on the water, boat dock, dolphins breaching the surface etc. all sounded great to my wife, but for me the airport was a deal breaker. Would have to fly to JFK to get anywhere
My dream
I’m about 1.5 hrs from the Atlanta airport and tbh your $ will most likely go a lot further here. Yeah it will take some getting used too if your not from the area but it is hard to beat the tranquility of 5 acres, just my .02
The south is going through a Renaissance right now, affordable cities with good schools keeping highly educated people around after graduation has been a boon to places like Atlanta, Raleigh, Richmond. I would put aside your biases(I definitely had some) and give a couple cities an honest look
Look south of Asheville, Hendersonville or brevard. Absolutely beautiful area and under two hours to CLT
Atlanta is awesome!
Raleigh/Durham area
Yes, Nashville is your huckleberry, I highly recommend it, not only to you and your husband but to everyone out there, please come
