Were employees laid off from BASES?
Laid off from a boutique in SF after a year. Had to move home, no savings, and student loans up the wazoo. I don’t know when I’ll be employed next. Any tips for getting through this dark time?
Has anyone been laid off from a Big Law firm and invited to apply back at a later date and actually got hired back. In my discussion with HR when they told me I was getting laid off I asked if there was a way they could move to another practice group..she told me there was nothing open at the moment but I can apply when something opens up.
Was she just being nice or do I actually have a shot?
Why do consulting firms constantly hire and then constantly layoff? Like my firm is laying off people as they reach out to interview new people at the same level 🤣
Got laid off. Went back to my hometown and freelanced for small local shops. Was treated like some prodigal creative genius. Ego loved it.
What are everyone's thoughts on resume services/coaching? I am a leader/exec that was laid off (first time) and have spent over 15 years in various roles such SVP Operations, Senior Director Product, VP Solutions, etc. at different companies.
I am struggling with putting my experience/qualifications on paper...
How do you not take a layoff due to RIF (involuntary reduction) personally? I was told it is not personal. All full time positions except 1 were let go. Contractors on the team still exist and so does the team. I can’t help but wonder whether performance was a factor and it makes me really sad even after a few months! Any examples of how laying off full time employees over contractors helps with cost cutting? Thanks!
Wow! What a day! What type of company starts layoffs right before the holidays? Lost my job this morning and I am stressed out. Is there any chance of finding a new job before the holidays? I'm doubting it.
My company is getting acquired and I have a new job lined up. My current company informed me I have a job at the new company, but can I just ask for a severance package instead? I haven't put in my two week notice yet, since I won't start the new company until March.
Has anyone dealt with being laid off early in your career? / have general uncertainty about your career path? Things aren’t going so well at my firm and it’s really impacting my mental health
Working at a company and they can’t seem to hold on to their female, black and people of color employees. I blinked and 3 of the people who were in my onboarding class were either fired or they left. For context I’ve been in company less than a year and there are people who have been in the company 25yrs. I’m thinking of cutting loose before it gets to my turn.
Deloitte S&O consulting laid off ~7% at the end of May (following a previous layoff in February). Any other firms experiencing layoffs?
Can anyone help by answering How's business growth looking for Workday? With the Layoff season going on, I'm a bit nervous joining Workday in a few weeks.
What’s it’s like working at EY tax? I heard they recently fired a bunch of people. Got an offer but not sure if I should make the move.
For all fired this year, do you put on your background check (for a job offer) that you were discharged? Heard EY doesnt share if you were fired or resigned, so am wondering what others are putting...
Why does no one discuss the real elephant that’s in the room? Most people hired in tech the last few years weren’t qualified. A few years of woke friends hiring woke friends lead us here. The positions that are getting laid off are mostly admin/recruiter related (jobs with transferable skills most people can do). It’s not the end of the world, people will find other jobs. Just no more made up titles making 6 figures at home watching Netflix (good thing).
I was in the final round of interview with Amazon right before the layoff news came out. A week later, I got an “incline” offer for the position that I’m applying to. Can anyone share their experience and tell me what that “incline” means? Retail Operations getting hit. I wonder if this opening will still be available. If so, I got an offer later. Will this be a hire to fire case?
Hey Fishes I have completed close to 4.5 years in EY under the Tax Operation team. I am getting only 7.5lpa inspite of getting "Strategic Impact" which is the highest reward category. I was supposed to get a skip level promotion to Team Lead which the HR had rejected for some reason. I feel I am really underpaid and EY is not valuing me as an employee. Do you think negotiating with the HR will give a positive solution or should I look for opportunities in KPMG and Deloitte ?
For the NJ Partners here - what’s a good upscale suburb to move to from NYC? Have been hearing about Short Hills, Summit, Chatham, Livingston, Montclair, etc. any others? Clearly schools important
I have a 21 month old son and plan to try to get pregnant again in the next year. I, like I’m sure most other working in the healthcare field right now, am exhausted. I’m thinking about asking my chief to go part time for my family but also my own mental health. Has anyone done this and have any advice?

Has anybody else started a new job remotely and felt underworked/underutilized? I’ve been at my new gig a month and I like the team and the company, but I just haven’t had many assignments thrown my way. Any suggestions on how to make downtime more productive? I really want to show my commitment/work ethic, but am struggling to create opportunities to do so.
Waze has been tried and true. Gets me there, warnings are reliable and routing around jams is wonderful. Just won’t go anywhere without it. Often zoom on routes my kids are taking just to be sure they are safe. Great app.

I was hired by an early-stage start-up. I thought building a community from nothing would be a fun challenge, but it’s extremely daunting. Was there a certain action that helped your new community gain momentum?
What “tech stack” does everyone use? I keep booking demos but would love to know what people use. The categories I’m looking for are billing, document management and document automation.
Had dinner w close friend. Her husband is a lobbyist. She is horrified that he “manipulates votes”. She gets it now and I understand why she said “I don’t vote anymore, what he does is sick.”
Does salesforce hire insurance industry experts from Big 4 ? What roles do they fit into ?
My recruiter scheduled an interview and then called and cancelled it (not rescheduled) and when I asked her the reason, she said "position is in hold ".

I don't know what's going on this week. Idk how today is Thursday (so not complaining)! I have just felt like nothing got done. My desk looked like a tornado hit it this morning. We made progress and got a lot off my desk. Idk if I am coming or going. I only have a couple hours in the office tomorrow before going to a table event to get the word out about clinical trials. So I have a feeling I will be ending my week in complete chaos.
I accepted a new job with a local district through my state DPH. I was excited and a little nervous at first. It's my first full-time position in several years and I will have state benefits along with "regular" hours. No more shift work. Unfortunately I am hearing some not so good opinions about management. I'm trying not to listen and make my own decisions based off experience-not word of mouth, but I'm beginning to worry. Anyone have any experience with something similar or working DPH?
I work in clinical Oncology - Really would like a higher level position in management. Anyone work in this industry have any insight?

Hi I work in patient finance and I am desperately bored with my job. I have a bachelors which isn’t a requirement for my role. I have been applying non stop to jobs that do require a bachelors and I am qualified for. Either I don’t get called for an interview or when I do I’m not selected. I have followed up with some of the interviewers and they all told me I interview well. I am so tired of disappointment that I feel like giving up and just settling. I don’t know what to do.
