Every session with my therapist, i have a really deep revelation. But i didn't start therapy this way. What has helped: -knowing how to pick a therapist and what questions to ask in a consult before committing to one provider -knowing what I want to work on, how I want to improve my life -understanding that therapy is best after building a rapport- their knowledge of you and your tendencies helps them help YOU to figure out why exactly you behave a certain way, and where it came from in your past It's really useful to pin your current behaviors to past experiences because then you see behavior as less of an indicator of character, and more as a response to certain events. The magic is when you realize that a behavior you learned was in order to address a situation you no longer have to endure. It is *much* easier to change once you fully validate why you behaved in certain ways to begin with AND assess how those coping mechanisms don't actually help you anymore in current situations. It's really the concept of "in the end, you have to save yourself". You know yourself better than anyone, and only you know what you want. You have to get comfortable driving the session, deciding what to unpack and grappling with issues you've had out loud. Get good at defining what's wrong and they suggest the best ways (based on their study of human psychology and their knowledge of you) for you to make it better.

I’ve had many of those lightbulb/breakthrough moments. It’s part developing enough of a relationship with your therapist to start digging deeper, and part finding the right therapist for you. Don’t be afraid to shop around, but it definitely takes at least a few sessions to start building anything

Having the same problem so changing my therapist. If you want someone to challenge your thoughts with techniques and not just someone to talk to then do the research and find someone who does that. You won’t stumble upon such a therapist. Listen to Dr. David Burns podcast if you are interested.

I am finally starting to feel like a person again but I'm afraid the ship has sailed on my having success in my new role.

I am looking to go in-house and I thought all of the interviews went well at one company. A week after my last interview, the internal recruiter contacted me just to touch base. 3 days later, I received an offer from another company and I contacted the recruiter from the job I want to tell her and she said she would check with the hiring manager and that we should she responded, “stay in close touch.” I emailed today casually to see if there was any update. No answer, any insight into why?

Anybody work at Amazon? Are their offers negotiable? My husband got an offer for a senior position in the VA office paying $120k plus $20k bonus plus 13 shares of stock that vest over 4 years. My husband has ~6 years of experience (2 yrs midsize PA plus various industry roles) so the senior title is low but have heard you have to take a step down in title to work at Fortune 25 companies. He likes the offer but not sure if he should negotiate for more because it’s expected?

I have left Deloitte after accepting another offer ( waiting to start the new role and taking time off between) . Now another dream role reached out to me for an interview. Should I tell them I am no longer with Deloitte if the HR asks? They had my old resume. Has anyone been though this situation? My main dilemma is I don’t know what to say why I left the job since the main reason was the new offer.
