Has nothing to do with that. Some people are just obnoxious. My most recent boss in tech, BS in Math and MechEng, MS in Math, very Type A, received consistent praise from all other managers/team members but received a note on my review, âSlack constantly is showing away.â
I work from home, but Im always working, given the nature of our role, I canât take time to step away. As a PM im in meetings 6 hours a day. Measuring performance through a Slack bubble is a horrible style of management.

Most people hate being micromanaged. Itâs a very counterproductive management style.

The more I see your posts, the more I get why your managers donât trust you.
Lmao this is my first post to this bowl. Who do you think I am?

Your boss expecting a deliverable is âmicromanagementâ?
This sounds like someone whose been burned by a subordinate missing a deadline or delivering subpar work late in the game. Doesnât mean you did that, but it could take some trust building on you part to combat it. You can maybe head this off with providing more information about the schedule. E.g. I plan to tackle this after lunch and will send you a status update by 5pm, or let me take a stab at framing this out and have you look at it to make sure Iâm aligned to your vision.
Wouldn't call that "toxic." But sounds like the kind of thing to tell your leads up front, that you expect to earn their trust through awesome work and that you would appreciate them giving you leeway in your delivery
Lol, feeling this right now! Donât think anyone appreciates it.
Feel your pain. Have you thought about why theyâre micromanaging you? Do they micro manage everyone? What have you done about the situation?
I used to work with a partner who used to micro manage everyone. But I tried to stay one step ahead of him, so he knew that I was always on top of everything. Hence he left me alone, and went to micromanage everyone else! đ¤Ł

Cutting people off when they donât agree to do lines with you next to the dumpster at a work function is a toxic trait. Hating being micromanaged is perfectly fine.
Top tier reply. Thank you for the laugh.
Can relate
How do you know if you're being micro-managed
Same
Your toxic trait is saying something is a toxic trait when itâs quite common and not toxic
Fair.
Main takeaway from these comments: upper management is very defensive. What does that tell us? đ¤
