My two best friends had a conflict over the weekend and have basically cancelled all of our plans for the rest of the month. As in they refuse to see each other. I don’t think the situation warrants this type of response, but neither of them are very practiced in healthy conflict resolution so this is just the approach they know best. Now I’m stuck in the middle.
What is DA and TP ratings in PA? Are these the formal ratings/terminologies used for appraisal?
Need some clarity on the rating grades.
I hate turning down any kind of request even when I'm up to my eyeballs with work. How do you all politely and effectively turn down tasks?
That little jog was epic 🏃♂️
I keep on interviewing for new roles and keep on getting passed up. Am told my experience is great, but there are more qualified candidates. I have asked for feedback and understand everyone is busy, but I’m getting really frustrated. I have a 10 month old and probably off my game, but I’m disappointed as I’m in a dead end job and feel it was the worst move I have made and made me not hirable or anything anymore. Hitting my self esteem hard. Just needed to vent.
You guys better accelerate your investments into Bitcoin before the demand accelerates (internationally used again for emphasis) the increase in price!

Hi! Question for CVS workers, I have seen that now the range for a sr analytics consultant is 130-167k but for a sr manager analytics is usually 130-157k , in the analytics spectrum is the sr consultant a higher level than the sr manager? Thanks CVS Health

We’re starting a hard money fund to get into some fairly challenging high interest deals. GP group is prefunding salaries and we’re looking for a a dynamic lending professional to come in to run underwriting and help with originations as well. Not opposed to giving juice in the GP entity. Please dm me if you or someone in your network has always dreamed of starting a real estate fund.

Hey ladies… Medical question. Just had my period twice in a month and I don’t know if I should be concerned. I have been under a lot of stress during the last months and sleeping less than I used to. Has anyone experienced this before? I know that it is not normal but when should I start being worried?
Curious as to where/how you'll invest your savings besides a 401(k). I started trading on Robinhood then "graduated" to TD Ameritrade. I mostly buy blue chip stocks or S&P500 ETFs. Would love to gain some more perspective.
For those who have made partner recently, knowing what you know now, what would you recommend someone should do who is 1-3 years away from partnership? I’ve gotten great reviews but haven’t done much outside of that.
Low billable, low pressure work in patent lit, tech trans or privacy law? Slowly realizing that as my boys get older, the money isn’t worth what I’m missing out on. Currently a patent litigation associate with lots of hearing, depo and trial experience (I’ve appeared on my own at hearings/depos) at a well respected firm. Have my CIPM and CIPP/US /E and /C. Just feeling the burn out; 2000 hours of billables a year just isn’t sustainable for me long term. Money isn’t a huge issue.
I work at a new, small firm. We get 10 days of PTO. For family/medical leave, we get 20 days paid and then 20 days unpaid. But policy says we have to take our PTO concurrently with paid family/medical leave. That’s weird, right? It’s like you end up losing paid leave days. It makes sense to do it concurrently with unpaid leave but not paid leave, right?
About to start a new position at the DOJ—should I assume I’ll be wearing business formal attire every day? Nothing pre-COVID fits well anymore…
My husband says he feels interrogated when I ask questions. How do I learn to take off my attorney hat at home / be gentler when asking him questions? I didn’t even realize I was guilty of this…
Just finished my first week in BL (I clerked the year before) and the imposter syndrome is unreal. I am paranoid, can’t tell if people are toxic or trustworthy, can’t tell if everything is fine or if I’m about to fail horribly and they will just watch it happen and not care. I’m so paranoid right now. How do you find people you trust? How do you trust that everything is okay if there’s no indication things are not??
Is it okay to wear a nice white blazer to a zoom interview? I’m in Nevada, so women are expected to dress conservatively. The office I’m interviewing for, however, is fairly casual.
I really hate my job, but it pays so well, that I’m reluctant to leave. On the outside it’s perfect for me since it’s WFH and pays almost 100,000, but in reality we are required to respond to hundreds of review requests in a 24 hour period. It’s maddening, but I really need to work at home due to circumstances. I really want to leave the law but I don’t know what else I would do that makes this kind of money, please tell me I’m not the only one that feels like this.!
My employment contract states that I need to keep my salary confidential. I recently applied for a job that I thought would be a good match for me and explained this situation to the recruiter but he said the company wouldn’t consider me regardless. Still don’t think I should disclose. Would it be better to give a range? Fyi my current job and the potential new job are both abroad.
If I am 50 hours short on billable and 50 hours over on business development, over the whole year, and we were told these minimums were required, am I in trouble?
My vertigo has been rendering me useless for a week now. I'm struggling to bill hours and turn in assignments. I'm a first year so I'm worried about how the seniors and partners I work with will take my performance this past week. I'm trying my best but it's honestly hard to sit thru meetings when I can barely write (my handwriting gets visibly worse when my vertigo is acting up) or focus on a task. It's taken me 6 min just to type this post!
Looking for tips on how to work with a senior paralegal who has been at the firm for 30 years and hates female attorneys. She has told me numerous time she doesn’t like young female attorneys because we “all act like we have something to prove.” I keep my interactions with her to a minimum but she recently complained about me to my manager when I corrected her work. Do I just keep ignoring her and hope for the best?
I’m working as a Summer Associate in Big Law at a firm that I really like, but I am struggling to find a female mentor in my office who does transactional work. I want to work in corporate, but there are so few women who work in that practice area. All of my assigned mentors are men. I’ve attended the firm’s women’s networking group events, but the women in the group are all litigators. Any ideas on how I can find a good female mentor this summer?
Anyone resigned bc of no support/burnout taking a toll on mental health, and in the convo your firm acts as if you never asked for support?
How do you tell your first firm as an attorney (small firm 6 attorneys...one is leaving for maternity leave in two months) that you’re leaving to move to a larger firm in a bigger city?
Just got married and am going to change my last name legally, and practice under the new name as well. I’m wondering what the pros and cons (or other reasoning) are of changing your middle name to your maiden name. Interested to hear any thoughts. Also, do you keep your old middle name and have 2, or get rid of the old middle name all together?
What would you wear to a law association holiday party? It’s not a sit down dinner - more of a mingle, hors d’oeurves sort of event.
Anyone here follow/have followed a “lazy keto” diet before? I’m not interested in counting macros/net carbs, but won’t have a problem sticking to a diet of the recommended foods and cutting out the “bad” foods. If you have experience doing something similar, I’d love to hear about it!
