My two best friends had a conflict over the weekend and have basically cancelled all of our plans for the rest of the month. As in they refuse to see each other. I don’t think the situation warrants this type of response, but neither of them are very practiced in healthy conflict resolution so this is just the approach they know best. Now I’m stuck in the middle.

I keep on interviewing for new roles and keep on getting passed up. Am told my experience is great, but there are more qualified candidates. I have asked for feedback and understand everyone is busy, but I’m getting really frustrated. I have a 10 month old and probably off my game, but I’m disappointed as I’m in a dead end job and feel it was the worst move I have made and made me not hirable or anything anymore. Hitting my self esteem hard. Just needed to vent.

Low billable, low pressure work in patent lit, tech trans or privacy law? Slowly realizing that as my boys get older, the money isn’t worth what I’m missing out on. Currently a patent litigation associate with lots of hearing, depo and trial experience (I’ve appeared on my own at hearings/depos) at a well respected firm. Have my CIPM and CIPP/US /E and /C. Just feeling the burn out; 2000 hours of billables a year just isn’t sustainable for me long term. Money isn’t a huge issue.

I work at a new, small firm. We get 10 days of PTO. For family/medical leave, we get 20 days paid and then 20 days unpaid. But policy says we have to take our PTO concurrently with paid family/medical leave. That’s weird, right? It’s like you end up losing paid leave days. It makes sense to do it concurrently with unpaid leave but not paid leave, right?

Just finished my first week in BL (I clerked the year before) and the imposter syndrome is unreal. I am paranoid, can’t tell if people are toxic or trustworthy, can’t tell if everything is fine or if I’m about to fail horribly and they will just watch it happen and not care. I’m so paranoid right now. How do you find people you trust? How do you trust that everything is okay if there’s no indication things are not??

Is it okay to wear a nice white blazer to a zoom interview? I’m in Nevada, so women are expected to dress conservatively. The office I’m interviewing for, however, is fairly casual.

I really hate my job, but it pays so well, that I’m reluctant to leave. On the outside it’s perfect for me since it’s WFH and pays almost 100,000, but in reality we are required to respond to hundreds of review requests in a 24 hour period. My vertigo has been rendering me useless for a week now. I'm struggling to bill hours and turn in assignments. I'm a first year so I'm worried about how the seniors and partners I work with will take my performance this past week. Looking for tips on how to work with a senior paralegal who has been at the firm for 30 years and hates female attorneys. She has told me numerous time she doesn’t like young female attorneys because we “all act like we have something to prove.” I keep my interactions with her to a minimum but she recently complained about me to my manager when I corrected her work. I’m working as a Summer Associate in Big Law at a firm that I really like, but I am struggling to find a female mentor in my office who does transactional work. I want to work in corporate, but there are so few women who work in that practice area. All of my assigned mentors are men.
