Ok so for everyone who says they can work from home while watching their kids, they have built this for you. For $5500 it can be yours, compare that to the price of daycare! You’ll be saving money and the boss can’t see your kid on the webcam with this setup. https://www.demco.com/tmc-family-workstation

If you have the space, consider an Au pair. They’re always there and generally more flexible than nannies. When kids are a little older and you don’t use your 45 hours per week, you’ve got a babysitter for date night. They can work weird hours to accommodate your weird schedule provided you tell them in advance. And they’re cheaper than nannies, plus there’s a cultural aspect: kids can learn new culture, possibly new language.
Daycare or stay at home nanny, definitely recommended to manage better long term
You need at least 40 hours a week of childcare, whether a nanny, daycare, au pair, etc. You both cannot work and take care of the child at the same time. You might still be in a golden time where Baby sleeps easily between feeding and changing, but that won’t be the case for long. For your sanity and your child’s well-being, get childcare so neither your child nor your careers are neglected.
It’s difficult…specially when the kid gets sick. Who takes time off? Who has “more important “ work to do? Just got set boundaries at work and take time to actually be with your family. Don’t always put everything on her / you for childcare. Gets easier as they get older 🤷🏼♂️.
Thanks y’all. The curveball is in also in the reserves so I am gone more than I’d like. AP won’t work now because of our space (buying in a few years out of state) so maybe a stay at home nannie for now

My husband and I are both consultants. Our young kids are enrolled in full time daycare and we tap into our former nanny for school closures.
We started childcare(nursery) after baby’s first birthday as my partner took a year off(including maternity leave etc).
Within a week, baby catches series of flus which last 3 whole weeks(normal for some toddlers as they don’t have a lot of immunity)
Tough time for us without family support but we both took time off and we had very supportive bosses.
Parenthood will definitely force you to think on your toes. Glad your kid got over it quickly and y’all have support from higher
Yes definitely. Every day is a new learning with them. 😊
Agreed with P1. We had some drama with au pairs initially, but my kids (now teenagers) stay in touch with the one that really worked out.

We visited our favorite one in England a few years ago w the kids. Very cool experience all around.
We will be getting a live in Au pair to help out
