To all those saying masks are only needed if you can’t socially distance, let’s take an extreme. If someone literally sneezed right before you walk somewhere, the droplets in the air can get to you.
Scientists say airborne risk is minimal but not nonexistent. Just like risk of getting a serious case of Covid19 may be low for a healthy American but not nonexistent. Why take the risk? I’m with OP.

Ac5. Are sickness rates lower during cold and flu season?
Why would she wear mask while going for a walk? OP be thankful you have a smart wife!
D1 LOL I do have some monster of a sneeze. Good thing I cover my face when one sneaks up on me. 😂 But hey, not everyone with monster sneezes like me would cover their face! Bigger droplets might fall faster but the small mist that you typically don't see or feel would float around - not heavy enough to fall.

Only necessary where you cannot maintain 6ft. Team wife ☝️

The reason people are driving with masks on is because it’s best practice to put the mask on before you leave the house and not touch it until you return home. Especially for people who live in apartment buildings or live in close proximity to others, you’re touching plenty of things that other people might have touched before you even get to the car.
Also non mask wearer on walks. Suburbs. If people are coming near me one of us just goes into the street to avoid close contact. It’s a non issue.
Agree with this. A mask is only needed in areas where 6ft distance can’t be maintained

It sounds like her husband is a mask wearer when not needed. I feel sorry for her.
Live in burbs. No one wears masks on walks but in the grocery store, everyone is.
Same here. If this was NYC, it would be a different story.
Talk to her, not us.
Ah good advice man Thxs haven’t thought of that
We live in an urban area in NJ outside of NYC most of the time u can social distance but there is always some meat head that decides he owns the sidewalk and the street isn’t an option

Then step into a parkway or turn your face away. You’ll be ok.

My wife is an ICU nurse and doesn’t wear a mask on walks.. because she is a sane person.

Do you live in a city or burbs? Have you tried talking to her first and foremost?

It’s fine if you’re not in a highly populated area and not going into any enclosed structures.

Threaten divorce. It’s only a matter of time.
Good for your wife. As long as she keeps her distance there is no issue. Also: the mortality rate for this new strain remains in line with the flu as of recent figures (actual mortality rate won't be clearly known for months, however). The overwhelming majority of those most at risk are those 65-70 and over, overweight or with other pre-existing illness (diabetes, cardiovasular issues, etc). Those that are otherwise healthy/younger and still in blind fear over this are dutifully (and without scrutiny) absorbing too much network news (or Google News feeds), which are all incentivized to keep people clicking and/or watching; fear-mongering headlines add $$$.
If you are over 65, are obese or have other relatively serious ailments, stay home and continue to self-quarantine. Let everyone else get back to work/play.
I was on my walk yesterday and sneezed lots. I have bad allergies. 🙄
Did you sneeze into your elbow like an adult?
