My work just had a retreat and I felt so out of place and uncomfortable. I tried to talk to people but was pretty much ignored and honestly it was really stressful for me, and the reason I chose a remote role was to avoid this.

Now we have yet another one with triple the amount of people, a 12-hour flight away. I have to be with them for 2 days straight and would have to room with someone I don’t know.

How do I not attend this and not seem like I’m not a “team player”?

Meta low ball compensation for leadership roles M1 compared to Amazon. A friend of mine just got an offer at Amazon 285k base 15% bonus and about 1mm in equity. I feel a bit jealous honestly as Meta only offered me $236k base 20% bonus and 1m in equity am I being low balled on base ? YOE 20

I think leadership in my company is just gearing up to sell:
1. When I try to refactor, organize, or address tech debt in the code, I get heavy pushback with no real justification (they just say “keep it simple”) and no stated initiatives to fix said debt. Thanks, I guess I’m just an impetuous child.
2. Marketing wants “more logos” to attract a 2nd round of investment.
3. No long-term vision for our “product.”
4. Way more personnel,no innovation
