Anti-Diversity supporters would get further if they also said diversity matters, but the efforts aren’t ideal.
Saying diversity efforts hurt white men while offering zero solutions to leveling the playing field for those of us who come from underprivileged backgrounds is just an endless cycle of shit and people posturing for power despite the fact that statistically there are still more white straight CEOs in the US than not. There’s more straight white males in tech than not. So these efforts still don’t hurt white men at all.
Companies are not picking up people of color and women from McDonalds. These people have the skills to do the work. That’s why they get the job.
@ Manager 5 - i wouldn’t say always but most times yes. Man or woman as consultants (those that travel 100%) we live majority of our careers on the road. We get used to that life style & forget what we do have at home. So when you’re on the road remember to call your wife/husband & talk to them even if it’s for 5 mins & talk to your kids. & don’t keep a “wandering” eye. Keep your legs closed. Appreciate what you have with your S.O. & make time for those important moments that matter to YOUR family. Your kids dance recital, championship game, anniversary, graduation etc. play a basketball game with your kid & help him/her with that jump shot when you’re home. Give them your time.
Sometimes you DON’T NEED A DECK
I'll go first. I think tumi is overpriced and ugly
Not sure unpopular or not, but at the end of the day we are so full of ourselves, and also full of sh*t.
It’s ok to leave work before 6:00 on occasion
We're not as intelligent as we think we are.
On site presence / face time is overrated
MBAs are a complete waste of time and our firms shouldn’t be paying for them. It’s basically 2 years of partying.
VLOOKUP should be a sackable offense.
Fishbowl is made up predominantly of whiners and complainers. A lot of people in consulting actually like their job and the firm they work for.
90% of this job requires the ability to search for things on Google and communicate reasonably well.
Staff aug shouldn't be considered consulting. It's temping.
Sometimes it's ok to check a bag.
Every firm should have their own tracksuit
98% of the work force has never heard of your firm and is not impressed that you work/worked there. This includes your parents
Also, physical community service (weeding gardens or painting schools) is ridiculous from knowledge workers. Even giving a nonprofit three hours of coaching is not that hard for us and a much more impactful donation.
Only the first word should be capitalized in slide / chart / table headers (It is a Serious Pet Peeve of Mine to See Every Word Capitalized)
Get underlings to draft an email you're going to send is a waste of everyone's time
We are overpaid. Not complaining though
Diversity gets way too much play . (I’m gonna get hate for this)
This will trigger some, but I believe it: we are allowed to expense way too much, particularly as it relates to meals
