Dentons is 2300, and they don’t pay market 😱
Learned that in an informal interview for them. Needless to say, I had no interest in proceeding with my formal application.

Wut. That’s insane. Especially with how hot the lateral market is, just so little reason to go there unless it’s a niche practice group/market.

You can check this on Above the Law or NALP.

1st Job - 90k…. Is this a good salary? Late to the game at 34. Don’t even know anything about personal finance. Basically feeling like an 18 year old over here with no knowledge of how to run my own life. Having to start over after long term controlling relationship where I was left out of all the finance stuff. So I’m lost TBH. Engineering makes sense, managing my money not so much.

Been working for a boutique firm a little under a year. Came in as a senior consultant (due to previous types of experience mostly in government). 7.5 YOE, Masters, blah, blah.

Anyway, I came in at 90K. Recently got 3K bonus (split). Around my 6 month mark, recruiters have started reaching out with opportunities ranging from $140K-$170K. Currently interviewing with a few in that range. What a shock to me coming from public sector. I really undersold myself because I didn’t know any better. 💀

MBB or FAANG (Ops role)? Similar comp structure

I accidentally sent an email to my whole team (9 people) that was supposed to go to my immigration lawyer. In this email it had information about my base salary. Compensation is still a taboo in my company and I’m wondering if this email will have any negative repercussions?

PS: I make $200K and some of my coworkers make $80-100K

Have you interviewed for a job where you haven’t even spoken to the recruiter? At this company I’ve dealt with the interview scheduler, hiring manager and even a panel for my second interview with the director and another senior manager…but no recruiter.

I reached out, but still nothing…so I don’t even know the real comp, benefits or specifics of this job. Has anyone encountered this? I’m thinking I’d speak to the recruiter once an offer is made.

8 weeks left in my notice period and company is throwing in new projects for me to work on “while they’ve got me” (8 years in company, longest tenure second only to founders). I’d be able to produce something but not to a great standard, and I wouldn’t be able to see campaign through. 90% capacity and heart’s just not in it.

Can I decline? Should I? How? Or recommend to give to my replacement when we hire them?

I remember when I first started working on my thesis project. My adviser asked me to get some funding for it, but he didn't give me any advice about how to do that. He just told me that if I wanted money for my project, I'd have to go through some kind of committee process and submit an application for funding from them. Sure enough, after weeks of writing applications and waiting around for responses from the committee members (who were always too busy), I eventually got approved for funding!

That feeling when you are struggling to get your many deals off your plate so you can have a break but then realize that it will just get filled with (gasp) *new deals* once you whittle the current ones down. Can anyone share the “Scale 2” salary for Nelson Mullins? (I.e. Boston/New York etc).

I’m a mid-level female associate at an Amlaw50 firm. I usually work with 1st or 2nd years. When I give feedback, I try not to be too harsh and to soften the criticism with anecdotes of people (or myself) who made a similar mistake. I discussed this with my husband (he’s in medicine), who was horrified. He told me that, even in his job, women felt the need to “cut themselves down” when they gave feedback, while men just gave the direct feedback without a story of their own mistakes. Cont’d
