Schwab is great 10 years and going, have a BofA as well just in case I need a physical branch option for certain things
lol Just as bad.
Charles Schwab hands down and then chase for a physical location because it's close to my house. Schwb has 0 atm fees, 0 Intl fees, no min balance, excellent customer service. Been 5 years and I wish I joined them sooner
USAA if you’ve got a family member or SO that can give you eligibility. The customer service is awesome and fees are basically nonexistent.
Hard no. USAA has lost ALL of its shine for me and my family.
1. Customer service has vaporized from what it was.
2. Performance First Savings never paid more than 0.3%...when other banks (like Ally) were paying 2.00%. And that .3? You have to have A MILLION FUCKING DOLLARS liquid in the account to get that.
3. USAA has gotten very sneaky with fees. Funk that.
OP - Where are you located. Better to choose an account with bank having better presence in your region.
Yeah Schwab hands down. Although I don’t know how to deposit cash? If I don’t want to carry around a bunch of smaller bills I’ll deposit using a chase atm and card and then withdraw later with my schwab if I need
No reason in the 2010s to pay checking fees. I’ve been using the Schwab brokerage and free checking for more than 12 years and highly recommend them.
I don’t know why I’d need to visit a branch and haven’t in that time - can deposit up to $25K/day in checks by taking pictures of checks with their mobile app, did a wire transfer with no fees to pay the down payment on my last house.
Discover online bank. They also have cash back on a debit card (if you’re still using such a product😟). And a high yield savings acct.
