Need a new washing machine and dryer. Preferably front loading and pretty.
Any recommendations? Any lessons learned?
Any thoughts on the combined 2 in 1 machines?

The front loading may look nice but you are going to have far less issues with a top loading washer.

I trust Miele. Hotpoint and Whirlpool are trash that will burn your house down.

like

+ 1 for Miele. Great for small spaces. Stack with retractable shelf for folding. Once you get used to the European style dryer you will love how much easier it is on fabrics.

I am very happy with my LG!!

Consumer reports is a great resource for learning more about this. My local library has a subscription so I can access material behind the paywall through my library card online - you might want to look into that (useful for other major purchases as well!). The Wirecutter also has some good recommendations.

Not 2 in 1. Plus, I think you have to have a special hookup for one anyway. I love my front loading Whirlpool set.

If you’re not opposed to secondhand sometimes you can find absolute steels on offer up but I’m sure there’s some really great sales rn too. I would check places that are really hurting like department stores, or maybe even online retailers like Overstock. I don’t have any issues with my front loading, seems personal preference. Never had any stackable knew though - I’ve no idea.

Happy with my Maytag

2nd Maytag. If you have pets make sure you get big enough washer to dry duvets, blankets, etc.

I have Bosch. It’s expensive but looks nice and uses water efficiently.

I have stacked GE compacts. Made in Korea so I suspect they’re rebranded Samsung. They do an excellent job. If you can swing it, Miele is well worth it.

We bought Samsung frontloads 5mo ago and our dryer stopped working today. 😫

Still under 1yr warranty thankfully but not thrilled.

Check our Best Buy right now. They had a curbside pickup open box deal for 40% off yesterday.

We went front load Samsung on Black Friday a few years ago. If I had to do it again I might consider a top load unit again. Without the center agitator you can fit a lot more in it.

Pay attention to load size for front loader, some are really small. If you want to be able to wash something like a comforter from your bed make sure it will fit. Also front loading washers you have to leave the door open at least a bit in between loads to let it dry out properly. So if you’re going to put it it a cabinet or closet make sure it’s deep enough to allow you close cabinet/closet door and still keep washer door open a bit. If you keep washer door closed too much it can get moldy/musty and start to smell bad.

How do you best support your students who do not speak English? I have four ELL’s in my 6th grade ELA class and they don’t receive push-in or pull-out Bilingual support during my class. Do you pull them for small group to provide instruction separately or do you just try to use google translate to translate your lessons and the work? Any best practices? I’d love some help.

What’s your most memorable science lesson (as a teacher or student)?

I am a middle school social studies teacher and my husband is a high school art teacher. He has been an art teacher for a very long time and he’s not super proficient with Google classroom but I am. I have been helping him with lesson online resources & creating hyper docs for the lessons. He is struggling with the students not having a lot of supplies at home and how to have them create multiple day art pieces. he teaches at a low income area, how is everyone handling supplies to students?

The amount of people, even attorneys, who can't separate out the policy merits of abortion from the issue of whether it is a constitutional right is disappointing. I consider myself pro-choice ---I believe states should allow it, that the federal government can pass a statute to guarantee it, and that FDA statutes and regulations will preempt any state trying to ban chemical abortions through FDA approved drugs. Dobbs at its core is a case about the Due Process Clause, not the policy of abortion
