I am currently on maternity leave. I missed utilization targets because of travel restrictions and was not rated highly for my performance last year. I am concerned I could be laid off when I return or before - my federal and state protection for pregnancy has ended. This is making me very anxious and not letting me enjoy my bonding time with my little one. Any advice on how I can change my mindset or be more calm is much appreciated. Thanks!!
I have this problem that I picked up from my father growing up: can’t effectively communicate negative feelings to people that I’m close with. I sort of expect them to know, and when they don’t get it or don’t show efforts that I’m expecting to receive, I start to distance myself from them and shut down. I started to reflect back on why I do this, and sense that this is some kind of a sick way of showing I have more power over the other person. How can I fix this?
6am flight, mother trying to breast feeding her screaming child in the seat next to me before take off. Attendant approaches me, "sir, we have a seat open for you in 1D." 💸💎🍾🍻🍸😁👏🙌🏻👏🙌🏻👏💥
Supply chain Folks. I have a friend who is looking to get back to work after maternity hiatus of a few years. She was a buyer. She wants to pursue CSCP. Will it help her chances of landing a job? Tks!
Bf’s sister is pregnant. Obviously happy for him, but can’t help feel sad that their family will probably not be happy when my time comes. They’re bigots and they hate me. Thinking of breaking up but I’m torn
I hate when “Instagram models” try to follow me and ask me to subscribe to their only fans. I am a newly married man with a child….
Just got an offer at ACN as a Strategy Manager and HR made it clear that parental leave was 2 weeks fully paid for men. Theoretically up until 12 weeks is covered by NY State ($900 weekly). What would you do? Have you seen men take a few months off for parental leave in consulting even if unpaid?
I’ve really been having the urge to get out of consulting lately. I’m hesitant to leave Deloitte however Bc my husband and I plan to start a family in about 2 years and I know deloitte’s 16 week parental leave policy is rare in the marketplace. Mom’s - do you feel like it’s worth sticking around another 2ish years for the parental leave benefit? (FYI i am newly promoted to SC)
Mamas, how much did you spend on maternity clothes? I’ve had some gifted and bought some support tanks and leggings and looking to invest for the last 4 months. Probably one-and-done, so won’t reuse
EY 🐠 - Are there any issues with dad's taking the full 16 weeks for parental leave? It says primary care givers only. Thanks!
Did anyone choose to be child free because of medical or mental health issues? I have struggled with chronic migraines and depression my entire adult life. I think bringing kids into my life where I am sometimes unable to function properly would be cruel.
I wake up at 4:30 AM to have some me time. Even on weekends! Life after a kid has changed so much!! When will things go back to normal 🧐
Can anyone provide insight to working at Holland and Hart? Also, when do parental leave benefits kick in? Is there a waiting period? Do they negotiate lateral bonuses for losing out on present firm end of year bonus? TIA.
Need advice from more experienced fishes. How much should I increase my FSA contribution if I plan to (try to) get pregnant next year?
Currently a few weeks left on parental leave and have had a potential opportunity come up with a smaller firm that I think makes more sense for my career goals. The question I have is: assuming I get an offer and the details work out, how do I navigate leaving? Should I provide notice right away? Go back to my current firm for a couple weeks and then give notice? I certainly don’t want to burn bridges. How would you feel on the other side?
Hypothetical here: you are a parent and your child got into two schools for undergrad. The first school is a US top 30 University out-of-state, but you have to pay full sticker price ($60k+ per year). The second school is a good in-state university and 20% the cost. If your child goes in-state, you agree to invest the residual ($50k per year) in an S&P 500 fund that releases upon graduation. What is the best outcome for your child?
How is it that you can fly with a baby in your lap with no seatbelt—yet laptop in the seat back pocket is not allowed. I promise you getting hit with a projectile baby is gonna hurt!!
7.5 weeks pregnant with my third and on the beach - never have I been more thankful for being unstaffed. The tiredness is legit so all encompassing this time around. 😴
Any advice for going to get a referral to a fertility clinic to for egg freezing? I’m in Toronto, I’m 34, my partner is 42 but isn’t sure if he wants kids. I am certain I want kids. I’m feeling quite lost, anxious and stressed about the whole thing...
What’s the turnaround time to get into a federal role (usajobs)? I’ve heard it can take up to months…and to not apply unless you are a veteran? Is this true?
Happy Friday! I noticed a lot of convos about health, long hours, and relationships this week. While you put yourself first this weekend, don't forget to also put yourself in others' shoes. #reflect
Do you guys have a formal or rule you use when giving out a cost estimate for a project? For clarification: this will be a creative project with a former coworker, I have no idea to the budget.
Honest opinion on the COVID vaccine mandates? No judgement on my part; just want to know the heartbeat of the community?
Before you ask, the answer is YES, fighting is a part of the interview at Deloitte. We have successfully replaced case interviews w/ cage matches. Last person standing gets an offer. Any questions?
I want to demo a mobile app via a Zoom conference call. Any suggestions for a mirroring app that I can use to do that?
Hi, wondering if reaching out to FAANG company recruiter on a mid-senior level counsel role via LinkedIn is useful. Or is it frowned upon given the large amount of applications they are likely to receive on a daily basis.
ZS vs KPMG vs Roland Berger? US NE office Have an offer to join rb or zs trying to determine if I should. strategy work at KPMG almost non existent in my practice. Not super hyped on healthcare but also don’t mind it. What are your thoughts? It’s basically ZS brand in NA seems to be better than RB, RB has more diverse clients and strong brand in EU
My MOH is probably not going to be able to attend my wedding bc of covid restrictions. Freaking out slightly because I don't have someone close enough to replace her / I don't know how viable her zooming in would be? Any advice / tips?

I want to do strategy consulting on the side and serve prior clients (and net new clients) directly. How do you all think about pricing (and how much)? Hourly rate? By project? Something in between? One-man shop.

🐠: Going to start traveling again soon, and don't have status on any airlines. Which airline do you recommend I use, considering ease of boarding, available overhead space, etc. I'll be going to CLT
More of a leadership question - our concept of work is clearly changing, and I'm worried about remote work leading to an increase in burn out. How can leaders adapt to these new conditions?
