Currently working at Citi. Good pay, great WLB, interesting work. Recently a JPM recruiter reached out for a similar position I am currently in. Interviewed with them and got a verbal offer. Have a few days to make a decision.
What are the chances of JPM accepting my counter offer? Looking at asking for a higher base of $15k.
Has anyone made the switch from Citi to JPM? How has the experience been?

Hang in there! Currently looking for another job
I was in FP&A for 7 years in 2 companies. My first 2 years was straight out of college and I felt the same way as you. I was a glorified staff accountant. I switched to a different company and actually drove decision making. All my projects were with executives and I got to present to the C suite. Same title… two different companies. I really enjoyed the strategy/project based side to my job and started to dread the budgeting part. I got my MBA and switched into strategy consulting, which I now love. You are young and just need to jump to another company and figure out what you like
Thank you, wow! I will definitely give that a try. I will look for headhunters on LinkedIn, just signed up for linkedin premium free for a month
FP&A can be really broad and depends on the company/team.
I haven't done any technical accounting work. And it's more about analysis and working with business partners, the usual forecast and closing out results.
Sounds like you need to go to a different company. Although you might find aome of the technical accounting work handy when interviewing at smaller companies.
Thanks for sharing, nice to hear from a peer! I initially thought it was my own shortcoming and considered taking more in-depth accounting classes. Then realized I should probably check if others in finance are experiencing the same. I will keep what you said in mind as I search for jobs
