Need a suggestion. I am an immigrant with a Permanent residency in Canada. I got my bachelor’s evaluated at CPA Ontario. I have been asked to appear for 5 PREP courses and PEP modules. I got my bachelors evaluated at AICPA and I am getting the required exemptions to sit for the four exams. I don’t have any plans to shift to US in the coming years, especially before getting Canadian citizenship. Is US CPA valued in Canada? How hard is it to find a job in US applying from Canada?

Your US CPA would only be valued if you work for a client that uses US GAAP and your expertise is needed.

Canada mainly goes by IFRS.

Easy vs hard is relative. But you wont know of its possible until you put in the work and start reaching out/applying

Hi all,

I’m in the middle of my prep for interviews for entry level positions. A lot of online material seems geared towards consultants/managers, in terms of complexity.

Whats a good amount of time to dedicate to case prep for example? and any advice on managing the pressure/nerves too?

Thanks! :)

Applying for some in-house M&A jobs, and a big focus is being able to run deals. I of course feel very comfortable running deals from the corporate side and managing multiple teams, but have obviously always had an army of specialists in biglaw. How does this work in house? I’m primarily thinking from a tax perspective — I likely wouldn’t be able to structure a deal (and don’t think many of my peers could either) since we always rely on a tax team, but not sure if that is an expectation.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on applying to several different positions within the same company? I’m looking at about 4 each with different focuses but mainly revolving around data analytics or entry level project analyst/coordinator. A friend of mine said it’s not a good look as it shows the company that you’re desperate. I really disagree, I feel it’s in your best interest to apply as many as you feel qualified for. Any thoughts?

Hi all, I’m trying to help my GF find some work appropriate dresses (she’s a big law associate) that are flattering for a petite a-line frame. She’s got some dresses from MMLaFleur and Of Mercer and looking for some more. We’ve searched easily 50 sites (department stores, mall brands, etc) and have been striking out hard. Was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for smaller brands. Looking for anything basically <$500.

I’m starting at M in August as a first year BA and was recruited through campus recruiting (specialized masters). I have 1 YOE at EY-P but went back to school due to immigration issues. Should I have done lateral recruiting instead of campus recruiting? Are experienced hires getting paid higher? If so, is there a way that I can communicate this to HR so I could come in as experienced hire instead? Thank you in advance for the help.

Less mcqs and more sims. I like sims better for far than mcqs for some reason. While the opposite for audit since it's more subjective. Plus the 15 minute break is nice. Took 12 minutes to drink use the bathroom and just clear my mind before hitting the home stretch. But do expect from DRS sims. I got 3! But I don't find those hard, just very time consuming since the overwhelming amount of info they throw at you.
