Hey there! I’m looking into a move from academia to industry. Higher education is a hot mess and my job has no formal growth opportunities. I am not paid competitively for my role or location. Plus, we just got our first raise in 8 years! It was about 2%. I feel like my passion is no longer serving me and the future I want to pursue. Tips for making the switch? I just had my final interview for an IFS research position at PwC.
How do I prove to a non-developer boss that I'm a good developer? I'm underpaid but my last raise was a huge jump because I was an apprentice before so was making minimum wage. So I'm afraid to rush things, but I know my work is above average, just not sure how to demonstrate that (It's just me and one other guy on the dev team at my agency).
What happens if someone is on maternity leave / maternity STD during annual raise etc.? Is it held off until they are back? Or do they get it on time?
Got an offer to join Bain as a 1st year AC at 2 YOE. Is it worth it for me to negotiate some tenure or is it better for me to start fresh? Assuming I do enter as 1st year AC, does Bain give early promotion if I perform really well? Bain & Company
I’ve worked really hard this year and just found out that I am getting a nice promotion and it also happens to be my birthday soon! Not sure how I should celebrate? Or buy? Any recommendations?!
Ladies, I am up for promotion soon and have gotten extremely positive verbal feedback on my last project. However, the formal review that I received from the mgr deviated from the verbal review. Mgr claims that he wrote a glowing promotion review, which principal/partner team pushed back on. I don’t trust the mgr’s words because we’ve had some bad blood before and he is telling me to let him circle back w/leadership and for me to stay out of it. Any advice on next steps? Sad and frustrated.
I make low 60k (plaintiffs PI), and I’m a third year attorney, if I ask for a 10% raise this year am I crazy? (I grew a ton in last year, took on new tasks and was given more responsibility in cases). Tips? Advice?
Just finished my compensation meeting at work, got my promo and a really nice raise that pushed me into the six figure club. If you had asked me 5 years ago if I'd ever be making this much money or be having this much success I would have laughed. My wife is super happy for me and has been a big support but I'm secretly starting to resent the fact I settled for her. If I had known I could do this well in life I would have waited and done so much better than her 😕
Anyone threatened to straight up quit with nothing else lined up as a way to negotiate a raise?
For Accenture tech consulting, how typical is it to go from analyst to senior analyst after one year? What's the usual timeline for promotion and chargeability?
I'd really like to progress to Sr Designer and get my hands into more responsibility and bigger projects. My boss's feedback when I asked how I could work to a promotion was "Find a problem and solve it". I'm feeling a little lost by that? Like a pain point in workflow for the larger team? Or a design problem I'm facing I can creatively work through? None of the above?
Senior manager went out of her way to screw up my promotion a few months back. Now wants to "catch up". I can't say no without burning the bridge... what to do?
Can we talk about sabotage? It’s not talked about enough yet it happens often in our field. I’d love to hear other’s encounters. For context- by sabotage, I mean someone has purposefully acted in a way that hurts you in a career/promotion/etc sense. Also knowingly. Most importantly... how do you move on from it? How do you turn the negative into fuel ⛽️ to overcome and later on (down the line) become stronger...and maybe destroy them? Kidding to a slight degree
How often should people get raises? How often should you advocate for one? Should you try to get a raise if you aren’t getting a promotion?
Got an offer in PA for a Manager position for 120k. Currently making 90k - is it worth leaving? Same job details except at EY, I’m a Senior 2 and up for a Manager promotion in October 2022.. 🤦🏻♂️
On may 10th we get official communication on our promotion. When would we get to know our compensation percentages?
How is Kearney ME in terms of project and wlb vs. mbb and tier 2? I have an offer to join them from Europe and trying to decide if worth the move
Spg or Hilton honors? Currently spg plat but wanted to know if anyone had better experiences with Hilton (service, upgrades, points accumulation mainly)
Returning to work and realizing that between the nearly 10 hours she is at daycare and driving to and from, I’m spending like 2-3 hours a day with my baby. Most of that is eating, taking a bath and getting ready for bed.. I’m feeling all the mom guilt for going back to work (not that we really had a choice since I’m the primary earner in our fam) on top of feeling like there is no way I’m going to succeed at work.. any advice or support on going back after your first mat leave? Im pretty down..
Is there a status challenge with United that KPMG is offering? I was remote last year and lost my gold status and have been traveling group 3 :(

Hi ladies! Does anyone use Butcher Box delivery? Making an effort to cook more and shed a few covid pounds. Would love to know what the quality of their products are like.
How to best utilize your time when you’re on the bench? I have started some online learning, getting ready for CFA, exercising, cooking, reading books, but I still feel that I have plenty of unused time. And the routines are killing me too.
CLEAR at IAD and DCA. Is it worth signing up? Lots of international and domestic travel coming up. Thoughts fish? Thanks!!
Big4 audit financial service exit opps?
I have been seeing lot of LinkedIn posts of Googlers leaving after <2-3 years at Google On the other hand, there are those who have been trying for years to get into Google. So what are some reasons current Googlers leave after such a short time there?
Been 2 weeks and I am tired of pumping. I only pump like 20-30 per session and 5x a time but each time it takes almost 1h from start to finish (lube the flange, gather the equipment, find a spot, find my water/food, pump, clean up and put stuff away) and I am not even washing them (hubby is doing that). What did you do to make it more efficient? Also I can't seem to figure my flange fitting. I follow the guidelines and the suggested one is more uncomfortable than a large size. Help.
People who have interviewed for experienced positions for consulting or industry. What's it like at a more junior/"senior associate/ level with low YOE. Like how do you usually prepare for the interview? I've only done on-campus hire interviews so it was just basic behavioral stuff.
Thinking about leaving the PM/Product Owner life. Would like to do something new, creative and keep current salary range. When researching for a major career pivot, what are some resources used to ‘see what’s out there’? Thanks!
Switching team internally competing with external candidates. was asking a promotion for next grade midpoint but was ok to accept >=50% hike which i told hiring manager before the process start itself which he said will consider if I'm the one selected. Attended 5 rounds-- 1 coding, 2 technical, 1 managerial, 1 hr. Now after 2 months telling me I'm the selected one, but offering me just 20% hike and same grade Any chance for negotiations? Any tips or guidance are appreciated. please help
Most lucrative & relatively common MBB exits? Is it PE Ops & FAANG roles (in addition to in-house Strategy & Sr Exec roles)?
My professional life at the moment is far from ideal. I’ve been on quarantine (long story, but a good one) for the last seven years. Royalties from my books don’t pay the bills. My entrepreneurial pursuits remain hampered. For the interim, I’ve been looking for a remote opportunity where I can leverage my skills in marketing, sales, social media, and elsewhere for a decent sum. I have a social media presence which, in recent years, reached millions. There has to be something exciting I can do.
Hearing about the ridiculous demands from the LA teachers union... Is anyone else frustrated with how political teaching has become? I'm not sure that I would teach at all if it was required to join the union. So sick of the pressure to back certain candidates, walk-outs, and viewpoints. My district has a negotiating body affiliated with the NEA, but it's voluntary to be a member. I'm glad to live in a state with options.
