Looking for thoughts and opinions about HR involvement in employee promotions. More specifically passing up an experienced employee for not having a college degree. We have an employee in our office, who applied for a promotion and despite having a degree, would be a perfect fit. Several supervisors recommended this employee for the position but HR denied the promotion for lack of a degree. I have a graduate degree and I still feel that experience is sometimes more valuable. Currently, I am working in TCS and the company conducted an internal Interview and I cleared that. My role has upgraded and along with that my salary got doubled(2X). But in my payroll it's added under "Payroll Incentive" and my basic pay remains the same. Now if other companies ask for the current CTC can I add "payroll incentive" also or should I say my old salary?

Ok so I was recently promoted to a manager, however I was told that because I was one of the senior people there that my promotion would not have a raise with it. I would see a cost of living raise in January. Anyone ever go through this? What was the outcome? Give me a raise or let me go back to what I was doing. The overall situation just killed my vibe working there. I guess I’m the stupid one for staying on the new roll with no pay increase.

Hello all. My company just went through an acquisition and the company did some restructuring of job titles. When they did this we were all advised the company would be making sure our jobs pay aligned with the national average.
My issue with this is my job title went from a Technical Support Supervisor to a Customer Success Team Lead. I have voiced my concerns with management but have been advised job titles are semantics. In my eyes this is a demotion, and will affect how much my job is worth.

What do you guys think, do recruiters share the real salary/range or are they sharing the low-end range for leverage? Or both?

And does being an internal or external recruiter influence how they approach salary transparency in the early screening/interview phase?

I run a temp agency but I'm consistently being mistreated and only gross under 68k. Was promoted to Principle System Engineer in December 2021 (Technical Band 3) and went from 81k to 98k. Our company has experienced significant attrition (13 engineers down to 4 engineers within 6 months) so a few months ago my director bumped me up to 110k based on me being a top performer in 2021 end of year review. I am grateful for the pay increase, but all of the coworkers who left have found positions that provide significantly higher pay. Am I being underpaid for my work?

I am an assistant and my boss approached me about revamping my position after telling me my coworker is leaving the company. He has told me I’d inherit either interim or indefinitely 1 task until the position is filled. Before I was told this my boss knew I was unhappy with my salary. He’s willing to bump me up $7k but that would still leave me significantly underpaid and not with the title I want. However, they are basing the salary on a Colorado location, which is actually lower than most of their other regions. Should I ask them to provide the minimum salary range for the role as per sb19-085 (8-5-20)?
