Consulting Moms

Need advice, moms. My son is almost 2. I quit D to take a PM job at a client that I’m quite good at but it’s not totally satisfying - reason was really that I just needed time to be at home (contd)

to put my house in order (husband has demanding job and very absentee unfortunately) and keep my sanity after post partum. 6 months later my company is going through some extensive reorgs and there are a few opportunities that I am interested in, but feeling extremely nervous and full of self doubt. I think they’d be better than my current role but I’m straight up afraid. I can’t figure out what I’m passionate about...but finally feeling like I’d like to move onto a role that would be more fulfilling. Home stuff is more in order but I’m afraid I’ll have to give up what balance I was starting to find (also loving this age with the toddler). I feel like I shot myself in the foot taking the first thing I found when I needed an out, and my confidence has taken a serious hit. What do I do???

A quick note on what worked for me was hiring an evening help. I am still not back to a place where I wanted to see myself at work. But I got my sanity back.

Would going back mean less WLB, more travel, etc? Can you swing that and make it work with the family? There’s so many options for childcare it depends on what you’re willing to do. I’m in the position you used to be - just moved to client side for better WLB and afraid I took something boring and not challenging, but then again we don’t know until I try right?

So there are new opportunities that you are interested in at your current employer? Why wouldn’t you go for them? They obviously liked you enough to bring you in house, so why not go for something you want? If it is a matter of needing more help at home, you can hire someone part time

I’m very into indian arts culture and myself learned classical dance forms (3), Carnatic singing, and violin, but I am interested to hear about some more arts you all might be engaging in as hobbies or passions. I really like to work with my hands to create something. Right now I’m working on a project to learn interior design using high end, business professional desi design patterns in my apt. What are some other nice arts culture hobbies inspired by India?
