A few of my friends used one and you’re right, they’re very expensive. I decided to apply on my own and ended up doing pretty well. I attribute that to knowing my own story and using my own voice. If you know exactly what you want, go ahead and apply on your own. Ask friends who are at bschool for help when you need, and when you need another set of eyes on your essays. It’s definitely doable

Thank you so much!! This is helpful and making me feel like I don’t need to drop the money. I’m a strong writer and feel like I have a super clear idea of my story. Gonna focus on killing the GMAT for now and then maybe I’ll feel more confident to proceed without a consultant

like

MBA consultants / coaches are expensive and would like to avoid it if I can, but feel like I’m at a point in my career where I MUST go to b-school next year to get to where I want to go (org development and business strategy mixed with talent/people ops). Here are the things I’m thinking about: -fall 2021 competition is gonna be steep -but I’m not shooting for the toughest M7s -don’t know what my GMAT will be yet -what if I’m still unemployed in oct/nov? This is very possible. Feel like I may need help ensuring my story reads brave risk-taker and not lazy POS Any ideas??? Plz help 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 need to determine whether it’s worth it to spend $5-10k on this because, ya know, I just quit my job and it’s a pandemic lol

like

You could also schedule a free 30 minute consultation - a few consultants offer that, then figure out how to do the same thing yourself lol

like

Not worth it. Biggest regret. Use applicant lab and talk to current students and alumni

like

Basically this. Applicant Lab is pretty dang good. And talking with students/alumni is free.

like

Thank you all!! Was getting into a panic thinking I wouldn’t have a shot anywhere without them. Gonna focus on killing the GMAT and using these resources / checking out Applicant Lab!

like

You can do it!

PS does anyone know if MBA consultants will be able to give me advice about what to do between now and R2 deadlines in case I can’t land a new job? Not like helping me job search but more like offering guidance on what will be best for my story (volunteering vs. certifications vs. less than ideal job) etc

For those willing or bold enough to share: For EOY reporting are you bench marking against 2020 or 2019 or both? What about for projecting 2022? I’m torn looking at 2020 as an outlier or including both years to be more objective? We had a good year this year and it compares fine next to 2020 numbers. My thinking here is events impact our lead gen and revenue numbers and as we all know this year events slowly started up. Looking forward to 2022 having even more events 🤞 Hopefully no variants

What would you do? Say you were “furloughed,” but you knew deep down it was spin for no one coming back. The agency goes on and on about how they want to bring you back, they will stay in touch during the furlough with updates, etc. your furlough is coming to an end. The folks who made the decision of course haven’t reached out during this time. You gave over a decade to the agency with a stellar track record. You know the decision was political and not performance-based. (Continued)
