As I like to read a lot of things, listen podcasts, etc. I started a newsletter where I talk about macro, markets, documentaries, books. I also do Markets update and select articles. I'm making a push for manager this year, knowing it's a stretch, so I wanted to make sure that my record for the year was spotless.
However, after 2 weeks on the engagement, I'm finding that the actual work was entirely misrepresented (I.e. I was told it is a finance related project, but it's more data analytics/mapping...I was told I would be involved in the medical workstream, but I'm on IT). Ultimately, the work doesn't align with my skill set. While I do want to be able to grow and learn more skills, I'm in a position where I am leading some work, and am afraid that I'm not in a position to succeed. I generally thrive on projects where I'm thrown in the deep end, but in this case, I can't rely on my industry knowledge & experience.
How do I proceed? Should I reach out to my counselor/EM with my concerns, or just suck it up?
