I've tried to negotiate with deloitte but they are not ready to negotiate and asking me to join on the same CTC which was initially provided. I'm confused to select the company. I am looking to make a career change to HR. I currently make 75K as a sales and development coach. I had a recent offer for a state government position in a talent acquisition role but I’d be taking a $25K pay cut. I am extremely over qualified for the position but it could possibly be a stepping stone and gives me the time to acquire SHRM certifications and possibly start taking classes to get my MBA. I think I made a faux pas during a discussion with a recruiter when asked what my salary expectations were. I KNOW not to give my number first but I was so caught off guard by the question since it was our initial discussion that I just blurted out a range. I’m afraid that I’ve now locked myself into a range with little room to negotiate if extended an offer. Any advice for how to proceed?
