Probably a better question for the Partner One bowl. Best of luck!

Good point. I’m at a big4 I work on a large client and am in a specialty group, so don’t get a ton of exposure to my specialty practice Partners. Have been talking with my Partner about my path for many years and thought we were on same page until a month ago. I sort of think this is about him not being able to retire (financially has a very lavish lifestyle) and wanting to keep me working for him a little longer (he doesn’t have to do too much).

P1 - I have asked the partners on my account who are supportive. They say to get another sponsor, to tricky because I haven’t worked with the other partners in my group much. One told me I should look around. The rest say I’m basically guaranteed FY21, but nothing is guaranteed and the Director grind is horrible in my group. Ugh. Also, did kill it this year- exceeded my revenue target by $1m. PwC 1- yes, we have mandatory retirement. This partner is going to be forced out and is trying to petition the board to stay longer. Hence why I think he needs the revenue / I need to stay below him

Being in a program has little to do with making partner at Big 4. You need 2-3 senior sponsors pounding the table for you. You need 15+ partners to be supportive. You need a track record of sales.

Could be many many factors but it’s hard to say since we don’t know anything about you or the firm you are at

Looking to improve myself as an applicant over the next year or so by seeking out leadership opps within and outside the firm. Any advice is appreciated!

Need to move to the burbs w/fiancee, but where? Staying in BK is not an option, though we will eventually work in the city 1-2 days/week (someday?). Won't do long island, need a 2 car garage w/space to work on cars and also space for a woodshop whether it's in basement or elsewhere. Planning on having kids and because we'll work from home a lot still need office space. I grew up in burbs and it wasn't so bad because I lived walking distance to train station into the city & nice downtown. 800k!
