EYP is M&A work and you will not have WLB. Brand of McKinsey is significantly superior and set you up for much better exits. Think McKinsey by a mile, not even close
You can get a good WLB at McKinsey if you can get in long implementation projects. These are a small island in a sea of death, but it seems that not many people are fighting over them because implementation isn't very sexy.
McK has the brand value still, so I'd say go that route. As a current EYP employee, the WLB is totally dependent on project just like it is at any other firm. I've had projects where I'm done at 5-6pm and projects where I'm done at 9pm. I've only heard of a few where it's worse than that, but you typically know what you're getting into ahead of starting the project (ODD and CDD typically very high burn).
Lol EYP seldom does CGS
I’m gonna go out on a limb and say go EYP. Your peace of mind and WLB are worth more than the marginal salary difference especially if you don’t want to stay in consulting for that long
The issue is that you are trying to get promoted. You can’t coast at EYP either. If you are going to work the same, might as well at Mck
You will never have good work life balance in transactions....
Do you ever want to go to industry? If so, take McKinsey and don’t look back. You’ll make more ten times over if/when you leave
Join McK, go to a top tier MBA program, start your own firm . Don’t stay long as a corporate slave . Wish you all the best !
You’ll be working more than 45 - 55 at EY-P in TSE on occasion. Without knowing much about your future career prospects, if you want to coast being an above to above average performer than I’d say it’s more likely to happen at EY-P.
If it was me making this decision, I would choose McK because of the opportunities it would give me after.
What OP make Global
Managing Director at McK in 10 years.
Very desi thing to say... played it in my head in Hindi
You will burn more than 45 hr/wk on commercial diligence at eyp
This is my favorite post I’ve read. The self awareness and confidence is there.
Go McK. You’re going to burn out at 12-18 months at either, so brand will be important.
Mck
I hope you know Associate Director at EY P is equivalent to Manager. EY P donot have any manager designation.
Associate
Consultant
EYP Director = Manager
EYP Senior Director = Senior Manager

So gonna go out on a limb here - what are your hours like at D? If good why not just chill there - you get to be M and can continue up the ladder more easily
I left with 2 YOE and got 50% raise, so I can confirm
How much is deloitte paying you now? And what about for Manager?
Around 130K right now. Would take a while to get to the EYP and McK numbers.
McK no doubt
Neither of these opportunities sound right for you and you’ll be stuck at both for years. I would hold out
Let me get the offer you turn down
I am just seeing this years later. I saw the posting, applied, they liked my experience and it was cool in the beginning but I left after a couple months.
