Hey buddies, please pour your thoughts and if we have any HR representative please clarify... How the HR's will negotiate for salary with other HR'S while they are switching ... There are many HR's try to give as low as possible for Employees even though they have good budgets just based on previous salary... Is it same happens to HR's while switching..? Hi All, need suggestion in choosing new opportunity & role. Currently working as AWS Engineer with 6.5 YOE. Having opportunities: 1. AWS Developer -Deloitte USI - 15fixed + 0-10% Variable + 4LJB (retention bonus) 2. Sr security Analyst - AWS IAM - Sony India software centre - 17.5fixed + 3L Variable. Im very much interested in AWS Developer role but scared of WLB at Deloitte. Sony have a very good reviews and pay also better only concern here it is cloud security and limited to only AWS IAM.

This is very directional guidance, but assume the 70k is your down payment, and divide it by 20%. That’ll give you the amount you can afford ($350k). Then go on a mortgage calculator and calculate the 280k mortgage (350k - 70k) at the current interest rate, add tax / hoa / insurance etc, and figure out if it’s within your budget. Create a spreadsheet so you can flex the numbers to see what works for your budget.
If you want to put less down, same mechanism as above, but flex the down pymt % etc. but add fha loan insurance to your monthly insurance pymt.
In the end, it’s a math exercise that you should work on a spreadsheet then have a candid conversation with your spouse on what you can afford.
