Need recommendation,
1. 170k base Consultant for a boutique but the KPI were weird. Unlimited PTO subjected to working with client deliveries on leave, Be billable 80% and also upsell to ensure we get more projects, They were charging for all benefits like insurance
2. 162k base joining bonus 8k, fully remote, 23 days PTO, as Engineering IC expected to be available on weekends for on call
3.155k base 18k joining bonus, Senior Manager for operations of small bank, manage vendor and team, 25 pto

Does Option 2 require on-call every single weekend or will all members in your team be rotating?

On-call very often sounds horrible because you're constantly anxious that you may be called to work if something goes wrong.

like

It is rotating at the moment once in a month. I heard a lot about people leaving after 1or 2 years in the role as they either feel burnt out or are unable to do anything and manager is new and acknowledged the same but assured he would add engineers in 2023.

Option 1 sounds stressful and work life balance would be non-existent, so the unlimited PTO doesn’t even matter.

Option 2: Sounds like a great role. Rotation on-call not bad, 25 days PTO not bad either.

Option 3: ops is tough and it pays less than #2

like

Company a and b are fully remote.

Option 1 will work you like a dog. Option 2 will require you to become SME. Option 3 will drain your social battery. Personally I'd go for 2

Thanks a lot.

In Option 3: It is purely people manager role no handson, but for some lame reason Banks in Canada just don't pay well unlike working for US companies

For those who already have a baby - I (36f) just had a baby 6 weeks ago, and my wife (33F) is now back at work (WFH) and I’m still on leave. Since I have the baby all day and get up with her all night, my wife basically “takes over” baby duty when she stops working. The problem is that within an HOUR she has lost all patience with the baby. She gets frustrated so quickly if the baby is crying and will say things like “I’m just going to let her cry since nothing im doing helps” (cont)

I'm on my ~8th client project since joining (1.5 yrs) and every project the leadership has consistently said things along the lines of "in all my years this is the worst project ever, never had such a challenging client mess, and difficulty managing expectations, and understaffed etc"
Does everyone always say things like this or do I have really bad luck?
Just curious

I am giving 12hour daily in my job to adjust in new profile. And affecting my health now.
Shall I quit the job and move with my husband with on dependant visa? Or i shall continue to get pressurized and wait for my onsite?
Plz suggest.

I am a newly promoted supervisor who has been with my company for 3 years. The promotion came with a salary increase & I was happy about that.

However, since in my new role I have come to discover that people I am now overseeing have a higher pay rate than I do. Some have been with the company longer than I have, some have not.

Maybe it was my bad for not asking for not negotiating my pay raise, but I am wondering what you would do in this situation?

I work at a privately insured addiction treatment facility. My hourly wage is $20/hr. I wanted to move up in position with this company but they already had someone in that position currently. They agreed that having me in this role would solve the issues and also that I would be able to handle the responsibility that comes with it. They only gave me $2/hr

I'm a Cloud Engineer w/ 8 YoE on a company sponsored visa in UK. Trying to switch jobs and so far after 125 applications for the last 3 months - only 3 interview calls which I didn't get. 46 not considered, 49 haven't replied or job listing expired. Awaiting response from 24 and 3 interviews scheduled.

Is this a bad time to switch or is it my profile or skillset? I updated my CV, did all I could to get shortlisted but isn't helping much.

Any tips? I'm losing my confidence day by day :(
