Need some advice, I’m an experienced audit staff looking to transition to FDD or Valuation after busy season. Does it make sense to make the jump at the staff level or should I wait for the senior promotion? Also which one of these two areas would give me a more valuable/transferable skill set? I’m not sure what I want to do long term yet, but I know I want to work in a client facing role and not exit to industry.

Hey everyone. I have been thinking about pursuing a career in cyber security for some time now. The only thing is I have no coding experience and since I got out of college I have been working on the audit side at a regional firm, but I feel like I’ve hit a ceiling and not going anywhere. There are also times when I just get bored and have lost interest in financial audits.

I have the following questions:

If a position for which I had a first round interview has since been put on hold, would it be reasonable to ask for an informational interview with the would-be hiring manager? In my experience, "on hold" has always been synonymous with cancelled. It’s frustrating and I like this particular agency, so I just want to make the most of this. Maybe there are other ways to handle these situations?

So i have been fortunate that i have managed to go through my career without the need for a degree. I was lucky enough to have been hired by one of the worlds top consulting firms, worked with a whole lot of big clients and travelled a lot. It's gotten to the point where I am not even asked about the lack of a degree on my resume. Personally though, it bothers me. I have a whole bunch of certifications in my industry…but just no formal degree. (cont'd)
