D1- because this has happened after joining back from Maternity leave and trying to get staffed on a local project. Are there any specific rules for posts in this bowl that are
Violated
I am an SC now playing BA through SM (in the same role - way overworked here), also because I wanted to stay local...
I don’t really think roles are all that well defined, like the difference between SC and M can be minute depending on the person (have met plenty of ppl who are SC but function at an M level and vice versa). Every situation is different. If you really want to prioritize staying local and that’s the role that’s available, there might need to be some compromise on your part. It can definitely suck but kill it and move on.
Which doesn’t fully utilize my full potential and doesn’t give me growth opportunities. I don’t want to end up like a difficult to work
With kind of person
OP I will say that when I came back from mat leave I too wanted to do local projects. I did manage it but probably burned some bridges. I wouldn’t have done it any other way but it turns out that people are not as understanding of moms wanting to be local as I thought they would be...
So maybe not helpful but I feel you!
I was in kind of same boat but I took the role for time being. Is there any other position available which you’re eyeing? If not, what wrong with present one if it gets you staffed.
This can happen on any project...as a Manager you should be able to identify additional opportunities for role or on project that make your SC role more M-like. Alternatively, identify a new M role for you and backfill your current role with an SC.
I took a role after mat leave that was a level below me (also manager at the time) but it allowed me to work from home. I was hesitant but it ended up working out - great from a WLB perspective, seemed like a team player, and got a great review.
